San Francisco Google officials said Monday that the company will replace a satellite image that a Richmond, California man says shows the body of his slain 14-year-old son.
Kevin Barrera was shot and killed on Aug. 15, 2009 near railroad tracks in North Richmond. Unbeknownst to the police and homicide detectives that swarmed the scene, a satellite photo was taken that day a photo that has since been used as the Google Maps image of the area.
KTVU first reported that his father, Jose Barrera, learned of the image only a few days ago. It shows a body lying on the ground, and a police squad car and several officers nearby. The image was still up as of Monday afternoon.

Up since 2009 and they just now are catching this?
This is the first time that I have personally known of Google to do something this compassionate that had nothing to do with race or gender issues. Good for them.
Some cities should just be a chalkline figure on the map.
They only have a few billion satellite images online. They should have caught this right away!
"Oops. Hey Steve. There's another son of Obama laying there on the sidewalk. Better pixelate him out too, OK?"

Yup. New job category at Google “graphics street sweeper”
You’d THINK that when the Google van traverses such a place, they would NOTICE such scene spoilers?
Guess not.
Oh, my bad. It is satellite. Well this sort of thing is going to happen from time to time. Evil things happen. Sometimes out in the open.
My daughter showed me some website that points you to weird stuff like that on google Earth. One image had the caption of “Man dumping a body into the lake”. It showed a guy dragging something large and wrapped in cloth down a dock, with a dark streak of something left behind on the dock. I was hoping that it was a large fish or shark, but .....?
“Flying Car”
Better fuzz out all the cemeteries.
This particular "google van" was shooting pictures from space.
What was that movie that was advertised as saying that in space, nobody can hear you scream?
Alien. I never saw it. I don’t like creepy stuff like that. I did see Jaws, but that’s different.
Looks like the back of the parking lot, behind the Grassy Knoll.
I cannot believe the clarity of Google satellite maps. Their latest of our place shows my wife’s ATV by her garden with her in it.
Our street view shows the 3 guys working on re-paving our driveway! They did fuzz out their faces, so someone must check the street views at least.
