Conservative talk hosts Jim Quinn and Rose Tennent are no longer part of Clear Channel's WPGB 104.7 FM morning programming. The duo finished its run in Pittsburgh at the end of last week.

No idea yet but...CC is always looking to cut costs. Much like the owner of the stations where I work. It wouldn’t suprise me if CC offered a contract with a cut in salary and possibly requiring more content control.
A radio/tv newsman I worked with...well known here...was told his salary...for maybe 3 hours work per day, most of which I produced ...was going to be slashed by tens of thousands of dollars. He ended up working for maybe double min wage. But he was so angry he made life miserable for the rest of us.
Finally health issues took their toll and he is now retired.
Also another interesting thing about him...during the morning show on a very...soft a/c women’s station we were talking about how we relax on the weekends.
Somebody said they read, somebody said they cook, I said I worked on my cars. When they asked the newsman he spun around from his typewriter and without hesitation said “I drink a lot!”
When I took mrs p6 to a station Christmas party she hadn’t met any of our personalities. We were walking down the hall...the newsman was walking toward us and greeted us. He then promptly collapsed against the wall dropped his scotch and passed out.
Mrs p6 was not amused.
Hell, I BOUGHT my XM JUST because of Quinn and Rose ...
Years ago, Q&R had a news voice that hated them ... he disappeared, but I don’t know why.
Thanks for posting. More cronyism further invading the media.
Wow. Feel sorry for the poor guy. He is literally going to drink his way into his grave.
Looking around and not seeing much hope for another station that would pick them up. KDKA? With owners as liberal as CBS, not bloody likely. KQV? The pre-dawn signal does not even cover all of Allegheny County. WMNY, Mark Levin’s former home, was just donated to a church and now plays gospel music. Unless 96.9 is willing to take them back I’m not sure what their options are.
Okay, one option. Salem Media. They have a Conservative Talk lineup (Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved) currently on WPIT. Quinn as a morning lead-in might be a natural. Problem with that station is their night signal is only 25 watts. They do have the more powerful Word FM which runs Christian programming. They could flip the two formats (Salem just put talk on FM out in Columbus, trying to make inroads in that market).
Problem is I think the Christian programming on WORD-FM really pays the bills down there.
The REALLY SAD thing for me is that there is NO wake up man in the Pittsburgh market! Not one! KDKA is boring, the younger oriented stations are stupid, and the others, including mine, are mind numbing PC.
The last real morning man I worked with was Jack Wheeler. Listeners hated him but they tuned in everyday.
I was his newsman. I might run a story to...instigate him. He’d break in and we would debate. When the mics were off we laughed ourselves silly.
He was tough to get along with but he knew how to get you up and going in morning and how to get advertisers.
Whoa! Salem put FM talk in in Columbus!!!???
I didn’t know that...very interesting!
Most likely lawyers who use the fairness doctrine and threats of lawsuits to control. Also consultants who do pretty much the same thing.
I used to listed to Quinn on KQV back in the 60’s. I remember seeing him racing at a mini-bike race out at South Park waaaay back when. Must have been a county fair or something.
Check #12
Thanks for the tip.
Contract talks going south are not uncommon. Thats reportedly the reason why the Quinn & Rose Morning Show is no longer on WPGB-FM (104.7)
Many listeners here in Pittsburgh and in the markets where the programs were syndicated via Clear Channel, woke up this morning surprised by the move.
Apparently some of the affiliates were just as surprised as the listeners! So whats next? Stay tuned.
I wouldnt be surprised if Quinn decides to use warroom.com as his broadcast outlet thereby making the program a web-only program. But thats purely speculation.
Meanwhile the Bloomdaddy show from Wheelings WWVA-AM (1170) was being aired in place of Quinn & Rose.
Meanwhile, those eager for Christmas music will be pleased to know that WSHH (99.7) and WWSW (94.5) have both flipped to their Christmas formats as of this morning. We kind of figured that while the stations would wait until the week of Pittsburghs Light-Up Night, we didnt think it would be this early!
That's the only thing low intelligence people here are concerned about.
Got news for Mr. O’B.....the Liberals are coming after Christmas Music too, eventually.
I think the white hut put the stomp on Q&R.
Jim was the only one on air to rightfully question the imposters drug use, homosexuality and extreme lack of documentation “our marginally documented president”. I would love to see Jim and Rose get tied in with The Blaze. One day of the replacement was much more than enough for me.
