Venezuelan legislators approved on Thursday during the regular parliamentary session the first reading of the draft enabling law requested by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on October 8 in an attempt to fight corruption and the so-called economic war.

“enabling law”
Isn’t that what hitler called it?
They recently removed an opposition member of the Assembly and replaced her with a Chavista, just need a simple majority for that, simply in order to get this passed.
Official dictatorship if you ask me
All those opposition mayors are about to find themselves powerless and a new appointed socialist council running municipalities.
Certainly did.
I guess nazi history doesn’t translate well into spanish.
Don’t Office Supply Stores still make rubber stamps?
History isn’t taught anymore.
Yup. I bet obama will do the same.
Hmmm? It looks like it's translating just fine.
yep
Is this much different than Obama deciding which laws to enforce, which laws to modify based upon his own orders, and who to prosecute or not prosecute as he solely determines?
Sean Penn wasn't available?
“This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.”
Yes, because nobody gets in your way to “delay” any presidential whim; they’ve already openly agreed not to.
Socialists always double down when socialism fails—always. If Venezuelans don’t have enough toilet paper because of market distortions created by their government, for example, the only solution is MORE government.
The sad thing? Venezuela used to be a pretty nice country, and I bet there are plenty of Venezuelans who aren’t thrilled with the downward spiral (and rampant inflation) caused by socialism. They must be as sickened by the wealth redistribution, aka thievery, as we are in America. Nevertheless, they either aren’t a voting majority or they’re defrauded at the polls.
Truth be told, the takers live better for awhile on the plunder taken from others, but what are they going to do when the plunder runs out? For example, Maduro recently seized a number of electronics appliance stores, and some people are apparently getting a portion of the loot. That’s all well and good I suppose so long as one never wants to see those products in Venezuela again.
I’m sorry to say America is on the same path as Venezuela, except we started with more things to loot. Does anyone doubt the Democrats would do the exact same thing as Maduro if they could? Shoot! Obama doesn’t even bother passing laws authorizing him to do what he wants!
Yes, the Enabling Act was what let Hitler do what he did.
I’d bet the Senate Dems are going to try to do the same here. They have a very slim majority - as they did in Venezuela, where one non-compliant member actually had to be “replaced” - and if they wait, they’ll have none at all.
Several Dem Senators come up next year, and Obama is going to drag them down with him unless they can reinforce him and step outside of the legal process. Brace yourselves, everybody.
‘non-compliant member actually had to be replaced
“hey senator, would you like your family to see these pics?”
