VIDEO: Students at historically black college complain Obamacare has left them uninsured

Students at Bowie State University assailed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Thursday after administrators cancelled a low cost school-wide health care plan due to new regulations in the law.

Many students told Campus Reform that the now cancelled plans, which provided coverage for just $50 per semester, were the only insurance they could afford.

“I can’t afford anything right now,” one said. “I can’t even afford my loans.”

“We don’t have that money,” said another. “We can barely afford books.”

Several students said that they felt they had been let down.

“It’s stupid and it’s Obama’s fault,” one said. “You haven’t done anything, Obama, and I’m disappointed in you.”

“What it was hyped up to be, was that it was supposed to solve a lot of problems and help a lot of people, and its not really doing that,” said another.

Many students had no idea the plans had been canceled, which was announced only in an email to their school addresses.

In a statement to Campus Reform, Bowie State said it was confident that Obamacare would fill the void left by the canceled plans.

“Most students are now able to be covered under their parent’s health plans up to age 26 at no additional cost and new affordable coverage is becoming available through the Maryland State Insurance Exchange System,” it read.

Campus Reform conducted the interviews with student Eugene Craig III, who first wrote about canceled plans in an article in the school’s alternative newspaper, The Bulldog Collegian.

They want tp cling to racist “historically black colleges” in this day and age, amd voted at least once for a POTUS candidate because of his skin color, they don’t deserve health care, but since they want it, they can pay for it.

Thanks sunmars.

You use “parents”, plural.

Most of these folks probably only know who one of their parents ( their mother ) actually is. So they start at a 50% disadvantage.

How can there be such a thing as “Historically Black Colleges and Universities?” Anyone ever ask why Brown v Board of Education doesn’t apply to anything over grade 12?

Oh, sure, they’ll whine and cry. But the problem won’t be Obamacare, but just that Obama just hasn’t “done enough” for them STILL.

It’s perpetual hands out eternal victimhood with NO fix, EVER.

Does that make both the students and Obama racist, each toward the other? I have been taught that any opposition to Mr. Obama’s programs must be racist. And I can think of no better explanation for the denial of Bowie State’s student health care than racism...

Hey, it’s clearly because of racism, white people are just racists who won’t send their racist kids to predominantly black colleges, just like Matt Damon and other white racist parents won’t send their children to the predominantly non-white public schools. :’)

Why are all the students at a historically black school suddenly racist?

“by the way, does anyone know if the federal employees healthcare plan has this up to age 26 provision?”

yes, federal employees healthcare plans do now cover the care of children up to age 26.

They won’t be eligible if they make over a certain amount per month. The only reason I’m eligible is because jobs are so scarce, and I otherwise don’t have insurance.

Yes, the kids are covered up to age 26 under parents insurance, as long as the kinders do not leave their county. So travelling out of state to school negates insurance coverage. Another unforseen item of Obamacare.

“Most students are now able to be covered under their parent’s health plans up to age 26 at no additional cost.”

Who said it’s at no additional costs? That’s the first I’ve heard of that. If that’s the case a lot of 30 year olds and older are going to become 25 real fast.

In a language they can understand. Some will be smart enough to get it, and will no longer go along with bozo and be played for a chump in the process. Others, not so much. We’ll see.

Everywhere I go, when I see an opportunity, I speak out and engage others in conversation about obozo and what he is doing to this country. I recently had a conversation with a black male who expressed anger over obozo’s ROE policies in the military that are getting our soldiers killed, which led to my informing him of some of the things going on in this country that he wasn't aware of, and he was shocked. I provided him with the links to Freerepublic, the Blaze, Oathkeepers, Breitbart, and told him to listen daily to Mark Levin, Rush, Glenn Beck..he's interested and wants to know more, and I told him to pass on what he's learned to others. It's up to each of us to be the town criers..we've got to get the word out.
