Twelve weeks from today, the US government will hit its borrowing limit. When Congress lifted the debt ceiling last month, for the first time ever, it pegged the increase to a specific date, rather than a dollar amount. The current borrowing authority expires in just 84 days, on February 7th.

Notice how short the timeframe between the roof these debt ceilings are set is getting shorter and shorter...
Its almost like when you shoot yourself in the foot, so many times, you eventually end up not hitting anything...
There is nothing left of our economic credibility with a hole that big now...
repeal or shut-down.
The Democrats want another shutdown to blame on Republicans and take the spotlight off Obamacare. I hope the Republicans are smart enough to avoid that trap.
The Republicans should equate the debt with child abuse. They’re passing the buck, robbing them of their future.
If they repeal the economy will begin to heal itself IMO. Thtbthing has everyone scared to death on so many differemt levels.
It certainly dioes feel like what they are doing to us and our future is criminal, but without true jeopardy to their freedom, or a jail cell...They ALL will ccontinue to kick the can down the road till this country collapses under this burden...
From what I recall from the last round, the rules have been setup to allow it to be easier to do what they did this last time, than actually “partially, or completely” shutdown the government...
So it will be more difficult for the Ted Cruz’s and Lee’s and anyone else to stand up and put the brakes on this economic death spiral...
R\est assured, the barry-cades and signs they posted to make everyone’s life misreable are being held in storage for just the next occasion to break them out and post those signs and employ and taks law enforcement and park rangers to keep us from viewing landmarks and memorials again...
This they cannot wait to do again...
And by that time people will be just too weary to fight it...
And that will be our doom right there...They will have won before it even begins next time...
And because there is no limit, the gov is spending like crazy... bonuses galore
Well, I do not believe it is really spending like crazy, in the conventional sense...
It is more like they are doing what they can to sustain, the unsustainable...
And they are succeeding in digging the hole and covering us all up at the same time...
Right???
There is no ceiling. Period. There is only borrowing authority.
Consider it’s a credit card with no limit that expires in 84 days. And it’s in the hands of a crack addict.
Very good!!!
Not strictly speaking true...
On the first day of this ceilingless time period, mysteriously the national debt rose by 3/4 $trillions. To cover more bailouts and cronyism and tyranny, whose to say that on the last day it won't rise by 3 or 4 $trillions.
So with this in mind, what should we expect to do about this issue, if it really is a problem then...
Should we be glad we have a credit card with no limit, and continue to sustain this effort???
Because it is obvious that we cannot change the minds of the people in this country as to the hazzards this debt has created, much less the consequenses of not paying on that debt...
But since the consequenses have never been effectively enumerated to the public, in a way that it effectively illustrates the countries precarious position...
There are too many stupid people (citizens) that are loving the fact that the battle is more of us against them, democrats against republicans, and that means more to them that they can get one over on us, dispite the consequenses...
Maybe it’ll take a foriegn country to call their marker...And then what???
The deer in the headlight look seems to be the only visual aid I can think of to illustrate the absurdity of the liberal mentality that has pretty much been the driving factor in this, and with their accomplises in the republican party continuing their feckless ways...
I for one, would not be surprised by this outcome...Cause if one country manages to do this, the others will fall in lock step pretty quicck, because the natural resources of this country are too great to pass up, IMO...
Are we ready for a bloodless war, and eventual occupation and enslavement of our people???
It will, I would not be surprised, matter of fact it had better...
That way the low information voters will be further inebriated to the reality of our predicament...
When the welfare checks, and EBT’s and other entitlements can no longer be divied out, the riots will begin very quickly after that...
I’d anticipate that most of us who are prepared for this eventuality, will have about 30 minutes tops, to implement their “plan”, and hunker down for the duration...
But, but, but, how can that happen? Pres. Obama told us that by raising the debt ceiling, that did not necessarily mean that we would spend more or be more in debt. I am certain I remember him saying that.
Here we go again.
When ya find that little tidbit of information, by all means post it here...
If we like the tidbit, I am sure that we will be allowed to keep that little tidbit...;-)
This is a very important story ...
As the Democrats seek a away to fix the ObamaCare disaster AND push through an immigration bill, the Republicans hold all the cards.
Under the plan to end the shutdown last month, the losers in DC agreed to three things:
December 13 - Negotiators are tasked with reporting out by Dec. 13 recommendations for longer-term spending levels and deficit reduction.
January 15 - The stopgap measure that reopened the government only funds the government through January 15.
February 7 - The agreement suspends the debt ceiling until February 7, at which time the government loses its authority to add new debt.
There is NO progress on any of those three deadlines. Meanwhile 2014 sequestration cuts loom, another government shutdown is likely, and the Democrats are suffering through their HealthCare Pearl Harbor.
What will the Republicans do? They hold all the cards.
But unfortunately they have people like John McCain who would compromise anything to get in front of the camera.
Bush’s fault! He should’ve set the debt ceiling MUCH higher when Obama was just a Senator!!! < /sarc >
