AUSTIN U.S. Sen. John Cornyn bedeviled by some in the tea party whod prefer him to be more Ted Cruz-like said Friday Republicans must prove they can govern like responsible adults and be a big-tent party welcoming a variety of people who share their principles.
What weve seen is that when were divided, we capitulate. We basically hand the victory to our political opponents. They win elections, and then they get to govern, and that leads us in disastrous directions like were seeing now, Cornyn told reporters.
Cornyn was joined by Gov. Rick Perry at a re-election rally at Scholz Garten before formally filing for re-election as senator.
We need to demonstrate that if the American people are willing to give us the opportunity in this next election to win that election, then we will be the responsible adults in the room. We will actually govern, Cornyn said.
Cruz hasnt endorsed Cornyn for re-election, saying he expects to stay out of incumbent primary elections overall. But Cornyns campaign has said Cruzs political action committee donated to Cornyns re-election.
Asked whether he believed Sen. Cruz who played a leading role in the government shutdown spurred by opposition to the federal health care law is acting like a responsible adult, Cornyn said, I think hes been a great new addition to the United States Senate. The sort of galvanizing attention he gave to the failures of Obamacare during his 21-hour speech I thought was very helpful. We had a minor disagreement over tactics, and that happens but we all live and learn.
Cornyn said he believes they share the goal of replacing Obamacare with something thats actually affordable and works.

This is only coming out of his piehole because he's seen his poll numbers...even *unknown* is giving Cornball a run for his sorry @zz seat ;-)
The Catholic Church has a couple of rules that apply to bishops and Cardinals that I wish we could apply to the House and Senate. When a head of a diocese gets to be 75, he submits his resignation to the pope, who usually accepts it. When a Cardinal gets to be 80, he can no longer vote for the next pope. Few of us, when we get as old as 75, are the persons we used to be. The other day, I thought to cut some brush and bought a new machette to do this. Darn! those machettes are not as sharp as they used to be!
12 years later we are to believe this ass clown will begin to fight and govern only if given cover of a future win?
Well, take it from this Texas Conservative: John Cornyn is a wimpy-ass RINO. He fell in line with the likes of John McCain when he got to Washington. He’s now trying to convince Texans that he’s a tough Conservative. I can’t stand that two-faced creep. He’s a punk. I made trips to his Houston office years ago with documented proof that there was a Filipino Mafia here in Texas consisting of Filipino Immigrants who were here illegally. I tried to get him to get tough on illegals coming here from every country; not just Mexico. I didn’t even get a form letter reply from him.
I’m not surprised that Rick Perry is endorsing him. America found out what an empty-suit, idiot Rick Perry is in the 2012 GOP Presidential Debates. Good riddance to both of them in 2014.
Apparently to Cornyn ‘governing’ actually means rolling over and being submissive. What a joke
I don't see Republicans agreeing on any single replacement and that is why Obamacare will never be fully repealed, all the claims that it will are just fantasy or story telling.
In the short term GOP needs to work on weakening it, repeal mandates one by one if possible.
Good idea! First, let’s just agree to set forth and adopt conservative principles.
Cornyn can go to Hell.
Taking bribes from the folks running ObamaCare website is not “responsible government”
The fact the Rick “STD Vax” Perry was at this re-election fundraiser also is proof Perry is no conservative, either.
Cornyn is a LIBERAL who needs to be primaried
Might ask him the same thing.
First you win elections-——then you are allowed to govern.
It is never the other way around.
Losers of elections have no power and become irrelevant.
Ask Romney, McCain, Akin, Mourdock, Angle, O’Donnell, etc.
I predict that 2015 will be the year of John Cornball’s greatest liberalism. But the voters won’t figure it out.
It’s tough for Republicans being the teachers in the room full of a nation of perpetual ninth-graders while the Democrats, with the likes of Bill Clinton, I Don’t See Nothing Obama, and Nancy Botox Pelosi, play the class clowns - the kiddies would rather be amused and entertained than listen to the logic and reality of the grown-ups - a thankless job......
... sigh ...
Do ya see what I'm talking about?
LOL!
Thanks for the ping!
You’re always welcome, AG.
Nothing he can say now make any difference to me.
He is cooked.
