I always wondered why on TV the attendance seemed so skimpy when their team is generally pretty good.
For similar reasons I never went to a game at Tiger Stadium while living in Michigan. I just would not park my car down there.

Los Angeles: France warns tourists to take care in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and Long Beach, and to avoid Watts, Inglewood and Florence. Yeah, but if you avoid Watts, you miss some good antique stores...

There are certain parts of Paris where there are more Arabic speakers than French speakers.

Right on. And the gendarms(sp) won’t go there either.

Looking at that sign, one would think the ‘no left turn’ sign was something they would have deemed inappropriate decades ago.

No, it’s probably an untouched photo. It’s just funny when you think of it...

Cleveland Heights and Euclid should be avoided, but Lakewood is a rahter nice suburb with very few empty store fronts. I’m sure the French would love it. It’s full of gay liberals.

back in 68 I had a summer job with a medical lab where I went into NE and SE(Anacostia) D.C. everyday. It was fairly safe back then, even after the riots.

ROTFLMAO! Chicago: "Stay away from the West Side and anywhere south of 59th Street.'
No offense to whomever came up with this info, but that sage advice will get you killed regarding the South Side. Though for 1968 it was pretty accurate.
But for today I wouldn't venture further south than 47th Street and no further East than Damen Ave (2000 West), that's Mex Gang Territory. But this is for ME, who grew up there and know whose who and what's what.
But for Tourists the fact is nowhere outside the Chi Loop and Mich Ave is really 'safe'. Not even the trendy Near North side. The ferals roam there in packs beating and robbing anyone they can. Then scoot back to the Ghetto on the El Trains.
And... Even though I know what I know, I don't go to Chi now unless I have my 9mm, the savages ARE EVERYWHERE and will strike at any time -- the f--kers never sleep. Oh, and the CPD is down about 3,000 coppers so don't look for them when the attack comes, you're on your own.
