Same-sex couples who are legally married in other states can now file joint state tax returns in Missouri, Gov. Jay Nixon said Thursday.

At a news conference in his Capitol office, Nixon told reporters he will issue an executive order today telling the Missouri Department of Revenue to accept the couples joint state returns if they file joint federal returns.

Nixons position drew a quick rebuke from House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka. The speaker said Nixon, a Democrat, was trying to violate voters will to satisfy his liberal allies.
The governors job is to defend our states constitution including the constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman that was passed overwhelmingly in this state not to surrender to the whims of the Obama administration, Jones said in a statement.

This is it, gay marriage has come to Red America. If this is allowed to stand without conservative resistance, same sex unions will be recognized in all 50 states in a matter of a couple of years. This better be a major topic tomorrow on conservative news outlets or else it is all over.

That’s right they should. Some people have little faith in politicians from either party, so they vote for divided government as a check on one party running rampant. But when the executive branch ignores the legal boundaries of his/her power this is what we get.
I wonder what the pubbies in Missouri are going to do about this?
