'I just shot someone': The dramatic moment man who 'gunned down innocent black woman, 19, on his porch' called police to confess
The unnamed man who gunned down 19-year-old Renisha McBride after she knocked on his door looking for help, called police soon after saying he had, 'just shot someone on his porch.' In an emergency call made moments after the tragic incident, he said he thought he had shot someone and then hung up. The police dispatcher then re-established contact with him and he told her he didn't know who the victim was. Minutes after that an officer arrived at the scene of the killing and said: 'There's somebody down on the porch ... it appears it's going to be a black female.' The Detroit News got hold of the audio footage from the early hours of November 2, when tragic Ms McBride was gunned down in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
Ms McBride – who is black - apparently knocked on the door in the predominantly white neighborhood, looking for help after crashing her car a few blocks away. The audio obtained through Broadcastify provides a glimpse into the events of that morning. At 4.46am the female dispatcher says: 'Just received a 911 call from a male (who) thinks he just shot someone on his porch. Then he hung up; we're trying to call back
About a minute later, the dispatcher radioed: 'Units responding: We have the male on the line. (He) states he doesn’t know this person. Trying to get further (information).' A responding officer told the dispatcher: 'There's somebody down on the porch ... it appears it's going to be a black female.'

I would have had my gun in my hand regardless. Pulling the trigger is another story. We don’t know what the woman was doing. Need to see how this plays out...
I agree. Each case needs to be judged on its own merits.
I strongly defended—rightly so—George Zimmerman. But this isn’t George. And it isn’t that South Carolina case either....where that cop shot the kid who was rushing him....
The race baiters on both sides will use this to paint this as “just like the other ones!” to ‘prove’ their worldview.
But we have to look at the particulars of each incident.
? How could it not be both ways? He could have had the gun to investigate the “break in” and still have it go off accidently.
But in her confused state she wandered off. At 1.40am a police cruiser was dispatched to the scene, but Ms McBride was gone. She walked for a few blocks, before knocking on the shooter's door. She was not shot until around 4am and it is not known what she had been doing for the two-and-a-half hours before her death.
There certainly are a lot of 'twists'. There is more here than meets the eye. I, for one, would be wanting to hear the results of a toxicology screen from the autopsy. Wandering off for three hours could have been more than just a result of the accident - running into a parked car.

The racial makeup of the city was 86.1% White, 7.9% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 1.0% from other races, and 2.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.7% of the population.

Totally agree - situational awareness is imperative - being armed carries a heavy responsibility. When armed (a normal condition), I am much more polite and will do anything possible to avert a reason to commit violence. I have had occasion to answer the door with my weapon at my side, but have never had cause to point/shoot. I hope to go to my grave without shooting someone and would be deeply disturbed over a "good" shoot, much more so for a "mistake".
Home invasions are on the increase. Expect more of this! BHO has hurt the economy and divided the Country. Be cautious about knocking on my door at 4 AM!

Unfortunately, the woman had nobody in her life that cared enough to accompany her when she was in that condition. Just a lost soul exposed to her own weaknesses.

I’ve been watching this story and there is a lot of missing info. The parents were calling for protests but are now asking people to tone it down and let the facts come out.
As Conservatives the media loves to paint us as racially motivated. Here I see expressions of sadness that the girl is dead.
If anything we’re questioning why lethal force was used.

The blame for the death of this individual lies with all of the above behaviors. Any black is now suspect as a potential threat. Not fair, but the real world.
And, next time, they get to KEEP France!
The time (01:30) is about the time most stragglers are on the road from closing down bars, at least in states which mandate closing time of 1 AM. I am not sure if Michigan or the municipality have that statutory requirement, as is the case in ND and other states.
Second, and more important point:
When someone is responding to stimuli like someone pounding on the door at 04:30, they are going to have some sort of adrenalin reaction. Hearing upset or angry sounding voices on the other side of the door will only enhance that. It doesn't take much squeeze to discharge a firearm under those circumstances. This is where the habit of keeping one's finger off the trigger until one is ready to shoot is critical in preventing an unintentional discharge. Good training, good discipline with a firearm can prevent undesirable outcomes.
