Mark Levin Show: David Long, President of Indiana State Senate
Mark Levin Show ^ | November 13, 2013 | Mark Levin Show

Posted on 11/13/2013 5:45:31 PM PST by SC_Pete

Mark Levin is interviewing David Long, President of the Indiana State Senate. Long is organizing an Article V. meeting at Mt. Vernon. He says he has 26 states committed already to come to the meeting. When the LEFT discover this is really happening, they will go ballistic. I hope the legislatures are ready for the war that will ensue.

Indiana passed a law requiring any delegate must follow rules set by the state, otherwise it is a felony. THERE WILL BE NO RUNAWAY CONVENTION.

Long says that he will not be satisfied in just threatening a convention--but it needs to implemented.

This is HUGE!!!! the momentum is building.

Here's another article about this:

David Long is so well-spoken and sincere. He passed two bills and they were signed into law by the Governor Mike Pence.

Thanks for the help. Long said that he had 26 states omitted but many more have contacted him and asked for more info. There is tremendous interest and he expects almost all states to come.

This is primarily an education and planning exercise, so the more, the merrier.

U.S. Constitution - Article 5 - Amendment

when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States,
or by Conventions in three fourths thereof
,
as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress.

PARSING ARTICLE V

The amendatory process under Article V consists of three steps: Proposal, Disposal, and Ratification.

Proposal:

There are two ways to propose an amendment to the Constitution.

Article V gives Congress and an Amendments Convention exactly the same power to propose amendments, no more and no less.

Disposal:

Once Congress, or an Amendments Convention, proposes amendments, Congress must decide whether the states will ratify by the:

The State Ratifying Convention Method has only been used twice: once to ratify the Constitution, and once to ratify the 21st Amendment repealing Prohibition.

Ratification:

Depending upon which ratification method is chosen by Congress, either the state legislatures vote up-or-down on the proposed amendment, or the voters elect a state ratifying convention to vote up-or-down. If three-quarters of the states vote to ratify, the amendment becomes part of the Constitution.

Thanks. I forgot to mention the meeting is on December 7th—the day Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution. What a day to have a meeting at Mount Vernon.

Long said the interest is tremendous. Besides the 26 states already committed, the inquiries are coming in from all over.

Convention of States - Mount Vernon - December 7th, 2013.
Representatives from 26 states have already committed to attend.
If 8 more commit to show up, the remaining 16 will scurry to attend
so as not to be left out.

It's about time the states used their constitutional prerogative under Article V to trim the federal leviathan. This will be a good meeting to coordinate the future effort and to educate the attendees as to how the process works.

I've been working toward this since 1998, and it looks like a president and Congress have so totally trashed the Constitution to finally galvanize the states into taking action.

That is awesome. I think with the Obamacare and the crap Obama and his minions are trying to force states to do I think people are gradually waking up. God I hope. God Bless Mark Levin and this Senator who supports his ideals.

I wish I had figures it out that long ago. I have long been a proponent of term limits—but recognized that career politicians will never truncate their own careers. Article V.is the only solution.

Post #9 gives you the details. This meeting will provide a chance for people to plan, and that’s 50% of the battle.

It’s also the date when Delaware ratified—The First State. It is historic.
