Hundreds of gun violence prevention advocates from around the country took to the halls of Congress today calling on members to expand effective Brady background checks to online and gun show sales.
"Background checks work and they save lives," said Sarah Brady, Chair, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "Twenty years ago this month Congress had the will to take on the corporate gun lobby and pass the Brady law. Since then, two million purchases have been denied to people like convicted felons, domestic abusers, and fugitives. There is still work to be done, thousands of sales go unchecked every day at gun shows and on the internet," added Mrs. Brady. "Now it's time for Congress to finish the job and extend background checks to all commercial gun sales."
"With every new story of terror, every senseless act of gun violence, with every life cut short, we are reminded of our need for action to keep our families safe and our communities secure," Leader Pelosi said. "Today, victims of gun violence stood up to advance the cause of gun violence prevention. Congress must find the political courage to do the same."

1. Gun purchases at gun shows and online are sent to federally licensed firearm dealers who run background checks.
2. Violent criminals do not obtain firearms through legal means.
3. Background checks do not stop people who are intent on committing violence.
4. The American people including gun owners overwhelming support dealing with violent people which are the root cause of violence, not their weapons.

I would have more respect for these Brady types if they ever expressed any outrage or sympathy for all of the violence in the ghetto, perpetrated by the youth gangs.
As reprehensible as these mass shootings in schools and public places are, the number of victims are a small fraction of the victims of ghetto gun violence every day.
Liberals play up cases like Trayvon Martin, but the biggest threat to young black men are other young black men with guns, not a “White Hispanic” neighborhood watchman, who shoots when he’s attacked by someone.
Liberals are like Jihadists, they will lie to your face to get what they want.

Finish the job? Every nut case mass shooter has been one of their fellow leftists who sincerely tried. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for other would-be victims, law enforcement eventually showed up.
True leftists KNOW this is a BS argument. They just want to have the power without legitimate challenge. I.E. they want the guns (government) but don’t want you to have one.
