Dianne Feinstein joins effort to change Affordable Care Act

Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday joined the ranks of worried Democrats demanding that President Obama allow people to keep their current insurance policies. Feinstein’s move is bad news for an administration desperate for good news following the roll-out debacle of the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance exchange on Oct. 1, which has been plagued by technical problems.

In addition to the website snarl, thousands of individual policies have been cancelled by insurance companies to meet minimum coverage standards under Obama’s signature health care law.

Feinstein said a “simple fix” would make good on Obama’s promise during the debate over the legislation that people could keep their current health insurance if they like it.

The California Democrat is a political heavyweight, given her Senate seniority and reputation for working across the aisle. She won re-election in 2012 to a new six-year term, and so does not share the political fears of Democrats up for re-election in 2014 such as Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, whose bill Feinstein will co-sponsor. Feinstein is the first blue-state Democrat to join the effort.

Maybe Nancy PP ought to find out what’s in it and then straighten out her fellow Californian

It’s 20,000 pages. She should finally read it now before it gets much bigger

It’s mostly about how we all need to foot the bill for people to have non committed sex, and a few variations on that

Hey, Like Diane said - you could “keep your plan”... until they passed Obamacare!

The biggest red herring in history. They can pass all the laws they want and the insurance companies aren’t going to re-offer the policies when they know they will be brutally cut off at the knees right after the next election.

The Dems are behaving like a cat trying to wrap a rug around a t*rd they just dropped in your living room. They know they effed up, there’s nothing they can do about it and they’re trying to keep you from finding out about it.

Too late. They had their chance during the shutdown. They refused to negotiate until they realized Obama lied. They are stuck whit it as is now.

My prediction is next they are going to mandate that everyone must buy the album "Ken by request only". Hey why not? They are insane enough.

“I love watching the rats eat their own”

Not to worry, the GOP will no doubt outnoise them over something or other.

The problem the fed gov has is they cannot force insurance companies to take back customers they dropped. This violates many state laws and regs on insurance. Is the SCOTUS going to back fed demands. This issue is not about taxes anymore. Gov cannot force business to violate state laws and accept contracts against their will. It will be a legal morass for the fed gov.

Totally agree, the dems know they effed up big time. They want reform, escape from Obama’s law because they know it is poison electorally. They love power and they don’t want to give it up. I don’t trust the Dems to repeal this or make meaningful changes to Obamacare, but when you’re in a negotiation it’s good to know the other side is desperate, divided and weak.
