Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Friday there still is a possibility of immigration reform this year.
I think that, in fact, the idea that either a comprehensive approach or a multi-tiered approach is not going to happen by the end of the year, I dont think that thats necessarily true, Priebus told Bloombergs Al Hunt.
I think it can happen and I think people like Paul Ryan and others still want something like that to happen, Priebus said.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., who helped craft the Senates immigration bill, said Thursday the window for passing immigration reform is through March. Thats when most GOP members will have a sense of whether they face a competitive primary race for the 2014 mid-term elections.
Priebus, who as RNC chairman is responsible for getting Republicans elected and re-elected, said doing nothing is not an option and neither are mass deportations.

What a dummy.
Immigration happens every day.
Hey Reince!
Are you really anticipating outdoing the liberals in the VOTE BUYING department?
Yours is an invitation to the demographic who will vote the repeal of the entire Bill of Rights.
They won’t know that’s what they’re doing, but that will be the net result.
“Bets are sort of off for major left-leaning outhouse-smelling legislation at the moment. The President has about 5 cents of political capital left to spend, and congress critters are concerned about their political lives.”
Normally, I’d agree with you but Obama is desperate, I think. He’s not so much concerned with his legacy as much as he is concerned with fundamentally changing America to his viewpoint.
Passing an immigration bill would gut the GOP and would go a long way to changing forever the electoral map. I believe that Obama would have no problem falling on his sword (and asking member sof Congress to fall on theirs too) in order to effect the kind of change he’s thinking about.
Well, from what I’ve seen here, they hate Latinos. I have seen more vicious, nasty stuff about Hispanics here on FR than any place else.
Immigration reform actually doesn’t relate to Hispanics per se, but the anti-Hispanic crowd on FR and other conservative sites has made it all about that. It also has nothing to do with “compassion.”
The system needs reform because we’re getting the wrong LEGAL immigrants. Virtually all of the terrorists who have attacked us have been legal immigrants from the ME or Muslim territories, or people who were admitted legally and simply overstayed their visas (an easy thing to do, thanks to Obama non-enforcement).
But the system sure as heck doesn’t need the “reform” it’s getting, which is actually going to exclude Hispanics and get in ever more Muslims and Africans. FReepers, obsessed by Hispanics and their ignorant, Dem-manipulated hatred of Marco Rubio, never even made any good suggestions. Something had to be done, but we picked up our marbles and left.
So don’t scream if you don’t like what happens.
With all the subterfuge and outright lying in Washington I have my sincere doubts that immigration reform would ever end up as utilitarian as you hope.
Why I will never vote for Scott Walker...got liberal Deniece Priebus as part of the package
We need Illegal Aliens like a mutt needs fleas...
Yes, we're already afloat in domestic parasites. We need to put them to work.
What's the matter Chubby, go ahead and give us your opinion!!
Go ahead and try immigration on top of Obamacare.
I double-dog, no triple-dog dare you!
Livius, you have been on FR for a long time. To say the conservative/republicans hate Latinos is I gross broad brush. So we hate the entire Spanish speaking world? Or just the ones who come here illegally, use false identities, take jobs and soak our generous welfare system?
But here are more important questions: Do Latinos hate me/us/Americans? Do they hold us in contempt by flaunting our laws and refusing to learn English? Do they spite us with their racist advocacy groups like La Raza? Do they express such love when they squat on our land, swamp our schools and arrogantly call us racists?
Where is their compassion for me, us, America?
Mass immigration may affect other people's livelihoods in less advantageous or pleasant ways.
Rinse...just doing the bidding for his masters.
“keep the conversation on obamacare!”
Amnesty is much more important if they win on immigration they win on everyhing. They will have a permananat Dem majority with amnesty and allowing 30 million more legal immigrants in, smashing all enforcement and then on top of that the chain imigration. If amnesty passes it will take a hail Mary to sve this country and the GOP.
If you haven’t figured it out yet. The amnesty, the chain immigration, allowing thirty million more legal residents, and shutting down all immigration enforcement will give the Dems a permanent majority. That is what this is about. The latinos are 80% Dem voters. Just look at the numbers and think on that 80% figure. This is not about hating the latinos but keeping the ‘rats from becoming a permanant majority.
WTF?
The Stupid Party strikes again.
I just want to scream! Will the GOP forget about immigration and let Obamacare sink the Dems for 25 years?!!!!
Why are they trying to stir up chaos for everyone? Leave well enough alone!
“But since the conservative wing of the GOP hates Hispanics (and I hate to say it, but they really do)..”
You’re a racist useful idiot for La Raza. Where’s your indignation for not bringing in South African blacks or Eastern European Poles into America? WTH are you doing here on FR? Go back to DU, troll.
