Opponents of a new California law that gives transgender students certain rights said Sunday that they had collected enough signatures for an initiative that would repeal the law.
A coalition of conservative groups called Privacy for all Students submitted 620,000 signatures to get the initiative on the November 2014 ballot, said Frank Schubert, the political strategist handling the signature gathering effort.
To qualify, at least 505,000 valid signatures must be submitted. To verify the signatures, each of California's 58 counties will first check that the overall count is correct, then conduct a random sampling to make sure they are legitimate. After that, it is likely the state would order a full review.
If, after all of the reviews, the group has the requisite number of valid signatures, the initiative would qualify for the ballot.
California is the first state to pass a law detailing the rights of transgender K-12 students.
One of the provisions gives transgender students the choice of playing on either boys or girls sports teams. It also allows them to choose which restroom that want to use. Supporters of the repeal effort argue the law violates the privacy of non-transgender students.
"It shows the degree of opposition that exists to opening the most vulnerable areas of public schools to the opposite sex," Karen England of Capitol Resources Institute, a coalition member, said in a statement.

If this initiative is upheld the California schools will probably build special bathrooms and showers for the cross dressers. There would be four types of bathroom/showers. One for normal boy, one for normal girls, one for males who call themselves something else, and one for Chaz Bono. Who cares how much it costs.
I’d say that collecting 600,000+ signatures in 90 days means that someone cares.
It’ll be struck down by fa6 Kennedy if it even gets that far.
I would vote for the repeal...Let’s hope
that it actually gets on the ballot.
I think allowing boys to pretend to be girls on sports teams is too much even for Kennedy. Scotus as it is today would not approve this foolishness.
Funny how far they had to go before the people of this state took notice. Still I wonder how much that number was influenced by the young girl who called Rush Limbaugh’s show to complain about this. Rush didn’t interfere when she stated the website for the petition two or three times.
Good
I’ve heard Rush reaches something like 20 million a day...that’s amazing if accurate.
20 million a day, how is that measured? If its 20 million a week, does that mean 4 million listened daily M-F?
I don’t know. But I “think” I’ve heard that number thrown around.
That is one step in the process of ensuring that there is no stigma associated with males shooting females. Or any other uncooperative civilians. All part of the plan.
“In the future everyone will be required by law to spend some time as a man and some time as a woman.”
For my mandated time as a woman, I want to be a butch lesbian.
“Wrong. They also allow boys to wander into female bathrooms and oogle their classmates.”
Oogle their classmates, or google them?
Too late, what's left of the Republican Party and "conservatives" in CA have already beat us to it.

Anthony Weiner will move to Calif and return to high school.
Celebrate Perversity!
Nullified by the Courts? Sadly, it will never even pass here.
LOL
and this will go all the way to the district liberal court and then to the SCOTUS and then we’ll see the wishes of the people ignored yet again while the perverts and mentally sick get another step passed on their bigger agenda.
Back in the sane early 60’s, I was a volunteer coach for a sorority’s volleyball team. And that was a far as it went.
Today, who knows? I wonder if they do “towel flicks” in their showers? If I put on a dress, can I find out?
