The fifth edition of the “psychiatric bible,” the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), appeared this year—to an unaccustomed storm of controversy, not merely in antipsychiatry bestsellers but in high administrative offices. Thomas Insel, director of the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health announced that the Institute would henceforth ignore all the DSM’s diagnoses when determining research funding because the manual’s “weakness is its lack of validity.”

A doctor friend of mine described it as being more of a billing manual than a diagnostic tool.
This has been way overdue for decades.
Ever since the DSM was taken over by the GLBT and other pervert sociopaths, the DSM has been worse than useless.
I'm just amazed that it took "science" this long to figure it out!
The coming end to sanity in Psychiatry could be seen clearly decades ago, when the books being used in the college classes changed from identifying homosexuality as aberrant behavior, to abnormal behavior, to risky behavior, to not even getting mention as deviancy in any of their texts now.

The APA, like many professional organizations is held captive by liberals with an agenda. Anyone who looks at the changes in diagnostic criteria over the years can see the evidence of this.
Yes-—Psychology has been totally taken over in the 60s by hard-core Marxists so they could set up the wealthy and control corporations/money—bribe them and eliminate “Good and Evil” by infiltrating curricula with Freudian/Atheism/immorality.
Conspiracies are real. It only takes two people to form a “conspiracy”. They spread misinformation (White Noise) so people have no idea of the “Truth”-—they have been “brainwashing” people to “think” people who believe in “conspiracies” are kooks——radical-—irrational, when they are the few who are actually out of Plato’s Cave.
Truth is always hated more than Lies (Machiavelli). This is known by Marxists and they lie and repeat it and it becomes the “Truth” in the minds of useful idiots.
Psychopolitics——was planned in the 30s. They were well-versed in Wundt/Wittgenstein and Pavlov. Psychology was the way to “change” Western civilization-—and drug all the intelligent smart children and erase morality.
The same with the AMA, which, by the way, has seen it's membership plummeting.
