DES MOINES, Iowa, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The federal debt "will be like slavery" for the next generation because it will be indebted to a "foreign master," Republican pundit Sarah Palin said in Iowa.
At the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's fall fundraiser Saturday in Des Moines, Palin said the federal government offers a host of "free" services that must be paid for at some future date to someone, The Des Moines Register reported Sunday.
"Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China," Palin told the audience in politically important Iowa. "When that money comes due -- and this isn't racist, but it'll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master."
She railed against establishment Republicans for abandoning conservative principles, singling out the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as Obamacare.
"Remember their promise that they would do everything in their power to fight against socialized medicine, against Obamacare?" Palin said. "When it came time to stand and defund it, they waved the white flag of surrender and they threw under the bus the good guys who did stand up and fight."
She also spoke about what she called a censorship of Christian holidays, noting that she had a book on the topic that would be published in a few weeks, the Register reported.
"Enough is enough of this politically correct police out there that is acting to erode our freedom to celebrate and exercise our faith," the ex-Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said.
I prefer the term "Uniparty" the biggest scam of all is us believing that the Democrats and GOP are separate entities.
I love that photo of her.
GO Sarah!
I just want to reach in and give her a Big Hug!
I always think her most recent is her best...LOL.
Aye, the Uniparty offered us Obamacare vs. Romneycare in 2012.
Reminds me of Devo’s “Freedom of Choice”.
We need to start making things.
We? As in "We the US Government"? And how is that so much better than owing China?
The US government grows more communist and totalitarian with each passing day.
Our debt to China is not terrible. It our debt to ourselves that is horrid.
Just as an FYI, US total debt is about $17 trillion.
China and Japan own about the same amount of that. $1.1 Trillion each.
So China holds about 6.5% of US debt. Ditto Japan. 6.5% is not a foreign master.
You are 100 percent correct. Heck we just had all 3 branches of government not terribly long ago and they did nothing! Heck we had so many opportunities back then. First should have been to rid ourselves of the UN, but Bolton was part of the get along gang. Such a tragedy and huge missed opportunity.
I strongly disagree.
China’s hold on America’s debt is large and increasing.
China is the manufacturer of a large, large portion of what Americans buy.
Bring back AMERICAN manufacturing.
Stop importing everything from China.
I agree completely.
America is going ever further into hock.
All our businesses sell, is a bunch of things made in China. Even worse, made by communists, for crying out loud.
America needs to make things right here in America.
Bring back American jobs.
Maybe on paper, but in reality you cannot own your own debt. How can you possibly borrow $10,000 from yourself ? For a government it is only possible because they control the value of their fiat money. So they have thrown more dollars into their fiat pie (inflation). A pie which has been getting smaller in size due to lack of economic activity (deflation). We are in a state of limbo I think technically with only a handful of countries willing to risk buying our debt.
BULLSEYE!!!! Boy is she right, but the Low Information Voters don’t get it. The Zombies who shouted how evil the white man introduce slavery, now I realize it isn’t slavery that is evil to them but it is the color of the master what they don’t like.
Cutting federal spending will increase unemployment and hurt the economy in the short run. We need jobs to offset the loss of government jobs.
Raising the import tariffs and bringing the jobs back to America, raises the income tax raised by government at the same time it reduces the outlays. And with the increase in jobs, it's possible to cut government spending even further without harming the economy.
-— Cutting federal spending will increase unemployment and hurt the economy in the short run. -—
How? Labor will move from unproductive to productive areas.
As evidence, the number of “jobs created” increased in the month of the shutdown.
Most of those jobs didn’t go to China. They just went.
Automation is killing everything. The displaced do not become software engineers. That just doesn’t work. The 45 year old lady toll collectors displaced by bumper bar code readers didn’t become a software engineer to write bar code reader code.
She’s at home on benefits and it’s not particularly her fault. Not everyone has the IQ for software engineering.
There’s a lot of government intervention in business that makes jobs scarcer. When people and businesses were more flexible, shifts in industries were easier to accommodate.
Why not give California to China and call it even.
