New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Sunday offered his Republican Party a prescription to win: show up.
Christie, fresh off a 22-percentage point win for re-election, said the GOP must go into Hispanic and black communities, talk with seniors and campaign in traditionally Democratic-leaning areas. It’s what helped him become the first New Jersey Republican in a quarter century to capture more than 50 percent of the vote.
It also has done nothing to tamp down chatter about a 2016 presidential bid, something many have encouraged.
“I know everybody is going to be speculating about what may come in my future and lots of other people’s future in our party. But the fact is, I am focused on being the governor of New Jersey and being the chairman of the Republican Governors Association,” Christie said on “Fox News Sunday,” one of the four television news shows he appeared on Sunday. “And I think those two jobs will keep me pretty busy over the next year.” …

Did Chris Christie campaign for Lonergan in NJ?
Did Chris Christie’s reelection change the composition of the NJ legislature?
Did Chris Christie appointed Judge Napolatano (for example) to fill the unexpired term for U.S. Senate until 2014?
Did Chris Christie schedule the special election for the day of the General Election where his coat tails (NOT) should have helped the remainder of the Republican line?
THE ANSWER IS THE SAME FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS = NO!
He appears to be very comfortable with another, no record of consequence Democrap, representing NJ in the U.S. Senate!

He would be the Rats’ dream come true if he’s the GOP nominee in 2016. Hillary (or whomever) will crush him like a bug.
Good point. Christie hates blind people, that is the only conclusion.
You can damn well bet that if blind people made up 13% of the population, Christie would’ve campaigned for Steve.
Christie is bad news. I am not interested in his candidacy. Maybe his bs hugging Obama crap flies in Jersey, but not in my house.
Regardless of how we might feel about Chris Christie, he is absolutely right about this. Conservatives share many of the ideas on social issues with some blacks and Hispanics, and we should be speaking directly to them. We can also talk about jobs and the economy, since it is they who have been affected most negatively by the economy created by Obama and the Democrats.
We go to all kinds of other groups, why not minority groups? We want THEIR votes, as well, and if the past few elections are any evidence, we NEED their votes.
About the only thing CC won’t show up for is a dieters meeting and a conservatives rally.

Democrats and RINOs want to divide our country by race to create winners and losers. Conservatives want to create an environment that allows anyone to succeed, with the proper work ethic.
Yeah, and something’s pretty smelly on his “hispanic outreach”. As another poster asked, where was this “hispanic outreach” for Lonegan? I have a feeling the Dims got their Union-preprinted-signs/free lunch and van rides ‘GOTV” for Krispy.
I don’t buy his claim that the conservatives don’t go to those groups with their message. He’s strictly speaking in terms of party, remember, and the RINOs’ message deliberately conflicts with that of the conservative base’s message.
That will be a lot to clean up after said crushing.
He may have meant it in his own RINO terms, but the recipe is correct - if we don’t show up, we will never defeat the Dims or the RINOS.
But who’s saying we don’t show up? I see nothing factual about that. Never mind not defining “we”.
Those who claim to be right of center/conservative/constitutionalists, etc., in general - I made no attempt to personalize it so you needn't worry about being accused.
I guess the "factual" part would be how the Dims continue to own the Senate and how Obama got a second term. Spin it how you will, Dims show up and our side doesn't due to a number of sundry reasons.
What’s to spin? That’s for the liberal media to do. I see plenty of stories in said media about our so-called “side” “showing up” as it were, although they’re typically tinged with negativity and outright lies.
Take note of the lack of support the RINOs in particular have had for more conservative candidates of late, too, which is spiteful after using them in the 2010 “shellacking” and now undermining them. The candidates most definitely show up, but the money and party backing does not—biggest example of late was that of Ken Cuccinelli, and his near-comeback troubled a lot of the liberals.

I don't disagree with anything you just said. If we can't get the RNC/GOPe to change and to support candidates like Cuccinelli, we need to take note and reach into our own pockets, candidate-by-candidate. $1 from each conservative in one or 2 states would have given Cuccinelli a boatload of money compared to "Hillary's new campaign manager".
If we don't come up with a more useful strategy than just not supporting RINOS, we will likely suffer for decades more than if we actively make personal sacrifices for what we do believe in. Many of us may be willing to put our money where our mouth is, but far too many suffer "liberal light" attitudes and will let petty reasons deter them from actually coalescing into a true foundation of support.
I'm at a loss and I haven't seen/heard any truly viable plans of attack to turn it around before we fall into obscurity as a once-free nation.
The question is: What can we do to start having more than a peripheral and snail-paced effect with the understanding that the majority of shakers and movers in politics are actively working against those who we need to elect? Sans an outpouring of funding and other tangible support, I don't know what would work.
