Hearing: violence epidemic linked to bad diet

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- There's been much research on the need for a healthy diet to avoid obesity and heart problems, but a Congressional field hearing in Hartford today heard that bad diet is also causing the epidemic of violence and shootings.

The latest research concludes that too many french fries and other heavily processed foods are contributing to the nation's epidemic of violence.

"Junk foods make junkie minds," said Capt. Joseph Hibbeln, National Institute of Health.

The field hearing heard that too much fast food, coupled with low consumption of fish or fish oil, is contributing to the epidemic of violence.

"When we look at fish consumption across countries, those countries that have the highest fish consumption have 30 fold lower homicide rates," said Hibbeln.

Plus, the research also concludes that if this is not reversed, that 1,800 of the approximately 60,000 kids in first grade in Connecticut today will commit some kind of act of violence before they turn 21, all because of poor brain nutrition.

This is the amount of bad oil consumed from one medium order of french fries.

"It's got lots of toxic compounds in it now because it's been destroyed by the fryer and it will literally change the composition of your brain, or your kids brain, if you eat enough of it," said Hibbeln.

No one knows about Adam Lanza's diet as autopsy's can't measure that yet, but experts can tell from his appearance that he had suffered from first episode psychosis. And that since he spent a lot of time in his basement, he probably lacked vitamin D from sunlight.

"Fish oil, or eating fish contains vitamin D, that's why grandmas used to give it," said Dr. Dennis Embry, Paxis Institute, "called cod liver oil, tasted horrible, but it worked."

The conclusion being if kids eat more fish and less processed food, they're less likely to turn violent.

"Their brains will be composed of what they should be made of and their natural state because the brain is made up of lipids and oils and fats, and many of these we can only get from our diet," Hibbeln said.

The violent trend can be traced over the past couple of decades to the increasing consumption of bad oil versus fish or fish oil.

Glad to know it's not their fault. Is anyone EVER take responsibility for their actions?

What edpidemic? These people are flat out nuts. Oh, well, next time there is a school shooting we can blame the food and say we need food control not gun control.

Tell me this isn’t real testimony, but a spoof of the leftist mind in action.

National Institute of Health, really? This is what passes for research?

Correlation does not imply causation. Junk food doesn’t cause violence, the most violent minority in the nation just consumes junk food at heroic rates.

Hence the pending FedGov ban on trans fats. When that does not reduce violence, what will be next? Sugar, HFCS (then honey because they are so similar), beef, pork (so we don’t offend anyone), wheat, other gluten types, dihydrogen monoxide?

You know where this is headed. Want to buy sometjing sweet. It’s gonna cost you triple what it used to. The Left seem to be regulating and legislating good how “we” are supposed to act while exempting themselves and making a fat profit at the same time. So tell me again, who are the bad guys again?

But then, how to deal with this. Assuming, for sake of argument, we say this junk food epidemic is the problem. Are we going to say that you can only buy certain foods with food stamps, for example???

But then, Michelle Obama tells us that so many poor live in food deserts, with no decent grocery stores. So too many living there buy junk food at convenience stores and chips and dips and such as liquor stores. So is it really the fault of “the man”, that the poor don’t have access to nice grocery stores with organic produce and such????

The commoners need to content themselves with grains, fruit, small quantities of meat and nuts, and reasonable quantities of beer and coffee and sugar. Better nutrition needs to be reserved for better people.

Violence epidemic is linked to:

Increasingly Godless society,
Broken homes,
Kids stupefied with psychotropic drugs, which wouldn’t be necessary if they reinstated recess....oh....and discipline.

Last I heard crime was down. This sounds like a political science hit piece. It may be possible that bad diet has made liberals stupid.

Removal of God from our culture, the Hollywood and the MSM’s fascination with violence, and moral decline has nothing to do with it all....

I believe that there is something wrong with a lot of our food and that it has a profound impact on our health and behavior. Read Excitotoxins by Dr. Russell Blaylock to get the picture.

It's not the quality of the food that is hurting people. It's food additives that actually impact our brain chemistry.

FReepers can make all the jokes they want, but I don't think any of us would consciously feed our families food that is laced with toxins.
