Not to worry. Next month they’ll count the seasonal employees hired for the holidays and the unemployment rate will go down again.

Looks like if the government shut down a couple of weeks every other month we could really add plenty of jobs!!

LOL...Rick Santelli really enjoyed this total surpass for the ObamaBots at CNBC, who had convinced themselves that the HORRIBLE government shut-down would mean disaster for jobs and the economy. And then these boffo numbers came out. Actually, shutting down the government has given the economy a much bigger boost than Obumbles trillion dollar stimulus schemes did.

Can the ignorant Big Government slugs who voted for Mcauliffe in VA because of the “terrible” consequences of the shut-down be sued for fraud? All they got was 16 paid days off and double-dipping on their cushy government paychecks plus unemployment checks. They ought to hope for another shut-down in January.

No, Apple. I did not want “surpass.” I wanted “surprise.” You can’t trust this smart aleck machine.

I look at government job reports in the same way I ponder the question of how many pixies can dance on the head of a pin. It is all make believe. Orwellian figures, the chocolate ration was INCREASED to 2.5 grams per week from last months 3.0 grams. Thank you Big Brother.

204,000 for the MONTH

about 340,000 new unemployment claims EACH WEEK

The job creation is only about 1/5th of the unemployment claims.

So, is it still those California computers that are the culprits? Or are these numbers just SWAGs?

See this (clicky):

People not in workforce UP 3.26 million (10/2012 vs. 10/2013)
People who CURRENTLY WANT A JOB, DOWN 459000

Then again, let's look at the positives... compared to last October, 13000 more people this year held more than one job.

Thanks, 0bama!

A lot of it is seasonal, part time retail.

Maybe we could close DC for 4 or 5 months every year. Like in the old days before A/C and they took the summer off....

Also... check this:

Table A-15. Alternative measures of labor underutilization
Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force:

Sept 2013 = 13.6%
Oct 2013 = 13.8%

The fine print:

NOTE: Persons marginally attached to the labor force are those who currently are neither working nor looking for work but indicate that they want and are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the past 12 months. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally attached, have given a job-market related reason for not currently looking for work. Persons employed part time for economic reasons are those who want and are available for full-time work but have had to settle for a part-time schedule. Updated population controls are introduced annually with the release of January data.

Gosh, for some reason, WaPo failed to mention that nearly a million Americans dropped out of the labor force in October. The U.S. labor force participation rate is now the lowest it’s been since 1978. Obamanomics is indeed working exactly as intended: reduce the U.S. to simply another pauper nation “equal” to the rest. Socialists know that it’s impossible to make everyone equally wealthy, but easily possible to make everyone equally poor.
