Guns and Ammo Magazine, the worlds most widely read firearms magazine, has fired contributing editor Dick Metcalf after the publication received immense backlash for its December 2013 issue featuring his editorial advocating for gun control.
Way too many gun owners still seem to believe that any regulation of the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement, Metcalf wrote in the column titled Lets Talk Limits. The fact is, all constitutional rights are regulated, always have been, and need to be.
All U.S. citizens have a right to keep and bear arms, he added, but I do not believe that they have a right to use them irresponsibly.
The backlash was immense. Readers flocked to social media to decry the magazines editorial decision and threaten to cancel their subscriptions. All the attention resulted in the magazines editor Jim Bequette posting a letter online apologizing to readers and announcing that Guns & Ammo has fired the author.

He also said a “well-regulated militia” means “regulated by the government”.
Out-friggin-standing.
Beliefs belong in church. Period!
Haven’t bought a “Guns and Ammo” in like maybe 35 years. Now “Combat Weapons For Personal Defense” is a completely different story.
When a gun writer and a gun editor don’t understand the language of the Constitution, like the word “regulated,” it is time for them to go. Regulated means trained, skilled at using firearms, something that gets limited when the government oversteps its authority with gun regulations.
All U.S. citizens have a right to keep and bear arms, he added, but I do not believe that they have a right to use them irresponsibly.
Isn’t that what the existing criminal laws are for? He’s talking pre-crime controls.
Has “..Well-Regulated Militia...” ever been legally defined?
What is NOT clear is the motivation - were they fired because the management was genuinely opposed to what had been published in their names, or were they fired because management was displeased with the negative publicity? Either way they are gone, but one of those paths leaves open the possibility of repeats of this stupidity.
Agreed. Combat Handguns being one.
Yes, there is.
Employees of Obama donor Leo Hindery Jr.s media conglomerate Intermedia Partners, which now owns most of the top gun-culture media outlets in the country, believe that Hindery plans to gut and destroy all of them as part of a business plan that has already led to numerous layoffs and the virtual shuttering of prominent television production facilities in Minnesota and Montana.
Hindery, who was in consideration to be President Barack Obamas secretary of commerce, is managing partner of Intermedia Partners. The New York-based media private equity fund owns Intermedia Outdoor Holdings, which publishes 17 hunting, fishing, and shooting magazines, including Guns & Ammo, Handguns, Gun Dog, Rifle Shooter and Shooting Times.
InterMedia Outdoor Holdings purchased the pro-gun hunting and fishing network the Sportsman Channel in 2007, and is now in the process of acquiring the Outdoor Channel, pending the federal governments approval of last months merger between InterMedia Outdoors and Outdoor Channel Holdings.
InterMedia employees believe that Hindery, a Huffington Post blogger who has contributed to numerous Democratic politicians including Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren, is in the process of consolidating all of Americas leading gun-culture media outlets and stripping them down to virtual destruction.
There usually is. Guns & Ammo is a publication of Intermedia, whose CEO is Leo Hindery Jr., media guy and money bundler for none other than Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Comrade Hindery has formulated a strategy to buy up firearms media and either "turn" them or "terminate" them.
If anyone still wonders why today's Guns & Ammo and Shooting Times suck, now you know.

The purpose of 2A is to PROTECT the citizenry FROM THE GOVERNMINT.
My first thought. They fired the guy, okay, but now what about all those people who reviewed and approved the editorial and then went ahead and printed it.
Gun-grabbers’ “newest” victim. Watch the guy nonstop on tv talk circus ......
/Libs can only get so much miles from Trayvon.
Damn. Even worse than I thought.
Fascism.
