In his whole re-election campaign, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) has invited only one sitting out-of-state officeholder to campaign with him: New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez (R), who joined Christie at eight campaign events Monday, including a rally in heavily Hispanic Union City.
In many ways, Martinez is the perfect complement to Christie, amplifying his strengths as a politician. She is relatively young (54) and a moderate who maintains strong popularity in a blue state. She has worked closely with a legislature held by Democrats and bucked her party by taking the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare. Perhaps most importantly, she's almost 2,000 miles removed from the poisonous politics of Washington, D.C.

Martinez is great, but nothing Christi does will make me vote for him. Nothing.
I believe Ms Martinez needs to clean up the emergency room after those cops did several rectal jobs on that junk yard owner. She's been strangely quiet where she should be putting the police chief and the "officers" in prison (not jail) for their outrageous abuse of that poor citizen.
Oh, pleeeease......talking about HIS VP pick at this stage is ludicrous.........they talk like he’s destined and preordained to be the next GOP standard bearer....................
Oh yea..right...and here we go with the media continuing to tell us who is our candidates....
I have said we will know the game early on this time because they are doing the same thing they did with Romney......they’ll put up others but Christy is their guy...with likely Jeb playing a similar role as Santorum did just to make us think we have a chance....
It’s how this takes shape that will tell us what we need to do....I think Cruz, Lee and Palin know this and have their own plans we will not see until later on...
The MEdia and Democrats are showing their hand now....
Yay. A fat, Progressive President and the best hispandering choice for VP! We’re gonna win in 2016 for sure! </sarc>
So the Rhino has its Hispanic I see. Well sorry I have my favorite Hispanic and that is Ted Cruz for 2016.
There is this little state named IOWA in his way, folks. And they have a lot to say in this matter. I hope more than Mr. Christie wants to hear...
If this continues, there is going to be a third party in 2016. Anointing two moderates with iffy track records is not going to fly. Trying to anoint another northeastern moderate is going to be a guaranteed loss in the general.
Martinez is good overall but she’s showing to be too easily swayed on several issues. She’d be fine with a solid conservative at the top of the ticket, but not with a left of center moderate from NJ. That ticket would be tepidly supported at best.
Christie/Martineze = Lose/lose.
hmmmmm which is why we have President Obama and will end up having President Hillary.
No Christie, do not want! In don’t want her either if she whores herself to the DC elite class.
Pay attention Badger...the media IS pushing Christy...and sending shivers down peoples legs at MSNBC already.
They did the same thing with Romney remember?...and barely said a bad thing about him until everyone else dropped out.
We are seeing ‘their’ game board being set up.....however we have folks setting up our players as well....but the horses are coming into view.....even if they’re just getting a sip of water at the trough.........
Karl Rove promises that this’ll work! What could go wrong?!
I can’t wait until Christie gets elected so I can start bitching about how bad a president he is.
Biggest landslide loss since Dukakis - maybe ever.
That’s just it. I don’t care for Christie anymore, either, but if it comes down to him vs. the Hildebeast I can assure you I will hold my nose and pull the lever for him.
Oh yes...and Cruz, Lee, Palin and Shafly our there this Saturday! Yes!...Again!
As long as we allow Iowa and New Hampshire to coronate our candidates for us, there is a good chance Christie will be the Republican nominee in 2016. He will be anointed as the latest incarnation of “the-only-candidate-who-can-win-the-general-election.” Then he will proceed to lose to Hillary, and the game will start again in 2020.
