Report: Christie Refused to Campaign for Cuccinelli
Breitbart ^ | 11/6/2013 | John Nolte

Tuesday night and again Wednesday morning, NBC's Chuck Todd reported that New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie refused to campaign for Ken Cuccinelli, the Virginia Republican who narrowly lost his own governor's race to Democrat Terry McAuliffe.

"They begged Christie, and you can make an argument," Todd said on Morning Joe. "That to bring a Chris Christie to Northern Virginia might have helped. But Chris Christie is worried about his own brand."

Then I assume that 1) you did not vote for Romney, and 2) you’re happy that Christie didn’t campaign for Cuccinelli.

What if Michelle Obama gets the nod in 2016 (purely hypothetical of course). You’d still not vote for him?

I thought the same thing. If he’s so bad, why would anyone want him near a Republican candidate?

Right now, I could not see myself voting for anyone but Palin or Cruz.

<brightening> Oh, well, why don't we vote for both of them? There'll be two spots on the ticket!

Watching Maureen Dowd and Rachel Madcow choke on it and die right there on the set on Election Night will be phun.

Which is so totally off the subject of whether or not he might have switched just a percent of soccer moms in Northern Virginia and helped Cooch win…….

I think his point was, if Cucinelli gets out the GOP base, who cares about 15% of soccer moms switching their votes?

Besides, soccer moms are part of the nonthinking distaff half of the overall voter population -- the Hillary Cluster, remember? They have no [censored] idea what "sovereignty" is and what it means to them (no toll of boys for Turkish seraglios, no slave-markets in Dubai selling American women, that kind of thing), they vote solely on "cluster" (boy, that's half the right word!) issues.

But notice, as Rush was saying today, that Cucinelli came very close without GOP-E/Party help, without CrispyKreme, with just his own base.

Rush was also pointing out that Dems and GOP-E's have been lying for years and moving the goalposts (his figure of rhetoric) on how much of what sort of voters "moderate" Republicans need to inveigle in order to win.

But Cucinelli almost won without inveigling, without substantial help from the Chamber, the Business Roundtable bundlers, the GOP. Chamber contributions in the Va. governor's race went from $1,000,000 last cycle to ... zero. And GOP party support fell by 70%, because Cucinelli was a hated Tea Partier.

But he still came very close, with NO help n/w/s his appeal, and without campaigning like Mitt Romney. And here endeth the lesson.

Not quite the example of "beware -- nominate no Tea Partiers!" that the GOP (and the Dems) would like to take into 2014 and 2016.

Well, I don’t think that was his point…but to your points: I tend to agree with all you said point by point - but comparing Christie in NJ to what Christie might have been able to do in northern Va. are two entirely different items. I was putting my self in the place of the GOP e to make a point….by their own standards, what Cooch needed to do was bring in some establishment types to help him…and yet, when Cooch asked, the supposed shining star of the estabs refused…which is very ironic.

Context my man, context…..not just facts or valid points floating around that do not connect.

Christie is no ideologue. He’s a pragmatist with one objective - personal power.

And what does he plan on doing with that personal power should he obtain it? Sorry, but I don't trust Christie with power any more than I trust Obama.

I can't take credit; I was just quoting radio pundits who sounded like they had the right take.

...comparing Christie in NJ to what Christie might have been able to do in northern Va. are two entirely different items ...

Concur, and I concur that the argument is between whether, as the refusenik RiNO's insisted, Christie would indeed have helped with the slavishly statist voters of northern Virginia enough to bring Cucinelli home (which help was nevertheless reneged), OR Cucinelli would have done better to bring in Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Sarah Palin to campaign around the rest of the State.

... and then the name of Rick Santorum floated to my forebrain.

Same old thing, different day.

Cuccinelli tried to move toward the middle. During the spring, Cooch was slightly leading McAwful. Liberals complained that Cooch was “whitewashing” his record. Then McAwful ran endless ads giving his “interepretation” of Cooch’s record. Cooch was going to be the main speaker at Redstate Gathering, but he backed out to campaign more in VA.

I think Cooch was given conflicting advice on whether to move to the middle or defend and be proud of his record.
