4 On Your Side investigates traffic stop nightmare (Caution - Story about anal search)

This 4 On Your Side investigation looks into the actions of police officers and doctors in Southern New Mexico.
A review of medical records, police reports and a federal lawsuit show deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, police officers with the City of Deming and medical professionals at the Gila Regional Medical Center made some questionable decisions.
The incident began January 2, 2013 after David Eckert finished shopping at the Wal-Mart in Deming. According to a federal lawsuit, Eckert didn't make a complete stop at a stop sign coming out of the parking lot and was immediately stopped by law enforcement.
Eckert's attorney, Shannon Kennedy, said in an interview with KOB that after law enforcement asked him to step out of the vehicle, he appeared to be clenching his buttocks. Law enforcement thought that was probable cause to suspect that Eckert was hiding narcotics in his anal cavity. While officers detained Eckert, they secured a search warrant from a judge that allowed for an anal cavity search.
The lawsuit claims that Deming Police tried taking Eckert to an emergency room in Deming, but a doctor there refused to perform the anal cavity search citing it was "unethical."
But physicians at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City agreed to perform the procedure and a few hours later, Eckert was admitted.

That ordeal would have been enough to kill many people that age. Complete sadistic disgrace!

One report I saw had the victim’s age as 54.
I’m not sure why there is a discrepancy.

Would appreciate if some of our law enforcement types would let me know. And “just because we can” is not a real response.
Also, when did they start the “school of clenched buttocks?” I bet that one is a hoot. Probably got out of that one, got drunk and laughed at all the hi-jinks you could put innocent drivers through. Oops. My bad. He wasn’t innocent. He ran a stop sign.

I have been waiting patiently for the usual freeper suspects to whine about freepers being anti-authority, hating the police and all things authoritarian, but nothing as of yet....?

Well, y’know. It’s that drugs are so evil that absolutely ALL means are necessary to get at ‘em. If a few innocents fall by the wayside, then that’s just the price we have to pay.
I know it's fun to paint that kind of imagery with the boot-lickers, but we need to keep in mind that many of these people are part of what passes for "civilized" society in north america. Ever see those old films taken at the end of WWII where the German civilians were marched through the liberated concentration camps and then made to help bury the dead in the most proper manner available in that kind of environment? That was Ike's way of telling the German civilians "You knew this was happening and did nothing to stop it."

Many times it is easy to stoop to the deniers level rather than being persistent in the face of their criticisms.
Either way, he's old enough to have suffered horribly from the stress; and at that age, he hardly fits the profile of a typical drug mule. And why would anyone have drugs in his butt coming out of WalMart? I could see it if he was going into a known drug distribution zone, but a family-oriented big box store with children and cameras all over it? No.
My only confusion was the different reports on the victim’s age. Not that it makes any difference regarding the atrocity that was forced upon this man, and at least once other in October 2012.
The city police, the sheriffs deputies, the judge, the doctors, any other medical participants in this outrage......they should be brought up on criminal charges and, if found guilty, sent to prison for a long time.
