Turning your kids over to the public schools will do that. I have five kids in private school and even still I need to work mightily to help them understand the myths and falsehoods of liberalism. The key is not just telling them the way it is, but taking the time to explain why. My oldest is out on her own at college now and I’m very proud of the independent thinking conservative she has grown to become. She still emails me and says she knows something she’s hearing has to be wrong and could I help her understand it better. It’s a lot of work, but so is every other aspect of raising a child properly.
The question for these parents is
“who are you letting disciple your children?”
God bless you, and each of your children. "Hear me now, believe me later" has become my byword in some of the discussions with mine.
That was great hearing your story. I wish everyone was as dedicated to raising children like you have been. It can be done, and you have proved it.
I tried it...there were not much better frankly..and some worse ..yes...more liberal
here in Nashville..
University School and Ensworth are both as liberal or more so than public schools
I'm not paying that to unteach
and it's the culture too
Progressivism...especially against the white race and Christians and of course southerners is all encompassing
like no time in my life
Culturally we were a much more socially conservative and homogeneous nation in my youth..60s and 70s
it's done
likely never settled politically unfortunately
we are in essence held hostage in our land by interlopers and the aggrieved
and libs will permeate school boards even in conservative areas..like where I live..it's what they do...they don't really work...where I live most are pampered but agitated housewives
Yes because many if not most private school teachers now went to a liberal or semi-liberal university and were indoctrinated, many without realizing it. They may have the best of intentions and not be a “flaming” liberal, but don’t understand things well enough to teach why liberalism is wrong.
Even those who call themselves Christians really cant articulate conservative principles of government and economy, even though they might be able to articulate basic gospel truths. That’s why we pulled our kids back out of private schools.
It’s just very, very difficult raising kids these days.
Public schools readies them for group think, falling to peer pressure and destroys their ability to reason.
Popular culture and media turns them into left wing fellow travelers.
Yes! It isn't enough to set an example.
I think I remained conservative through college and my twenties because my parents and my grandparents continually told me why we were conservatives. It was because we were individuals and no one else had the right to tell us what to do.
And that included labor unions. When I got my first college job at age 19, I was royally p***ed that I was forced to join a union to get it.
