White House Blames Stage IV Cancer Victim for Insurance Loss

In a heartbreaking Wall Street Journal editorial, Edie Littlefield Sunby, a stage-four cancer survivor, details how ObamaCare cost her the health insurance Obama repeatedly promised she could keep, and how ObamaCare's alternative plans don't cover the doctors and facilities that have kept her alive. In response to her story, White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer fired off a dismissive tweet that basically blames her for picking the wrong insurance:

Sundby is losing her coverage and her doctors because of a business decision her insurer made within the competitive dynamics of California’s health care market. She’ll now have to enroll in a new plan that offers tighter networks of providers as a way to control health care costs and offer lower premiums. Eleven insurers are participating in Covered California and for the first time they won’t be able to deny coverage to Sundby or any other cancer patients.

The ONLY reason they are pulling out is BECAUSE of the new regulations related to Obamacare. If the law had never been passed - the insurers would never have pulled out ...

BTW - Sundby ALREADY had coverage, so she wouldn't have been denied, if not for Obamacare. NOW, she IS being denied, because she has to choose between UCSD [her local docs] and Stanford [her oncologists] - since they DO NOT participate in the same health insurance plans. Under her old plan - BOTH centers accepted her insurance ...

While her story is heart wrenching and tragic, it is her fault. After all she admits in the story to voting to re-elect the Tyrant Obama. For 5 years we’ve been shouting from the highest rooftops that this was going to happen.

What a moron he is. True competition would help her keep her doctor and plan and still have other choices that may even be cheaper with the same doctors.

Obamacare was never about “competition” or a true “marketplace”.

I'll just add that I'm also sick of hearing how "now that people have insurance, they won't use the ER as much and won't wait until they're really sick to go. WRONG! In NY I see people under Medicaid that use the ER as their primary doctor because it's all free, open 24 hours, and sends you on your way with drugs from their own in house Pharmacy. They even provide transportation. I understand some people need and deserve Medicaid. But we're expanding the program and giving others close to 100% subsidized plans. There is no incentive only cost!

They won't have to murder anybody to rack up huge casualty numbers. Apart from people simply dying from lack of care the catastrophic collapse of medicine that is coming will cause a cascade effect of runaway virulent diseases. Add to that the economic hardships that will come from one seventh of the economy being destroyed overnight. Throw in the fact that culturally we have no memory of dealing with such third world situations.

Mix together and sprinkle with government bureaucracies who will genuinely try to help with too little funding, too little experience and their clumsy ham-handed way FUBARing everything they touch.
