Sarah Palin 2016: Former Alaska Governor Laying Groundwork For Possible Presidential Run

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Sarah Palin may be once again dreaming of the White House and a run for the presidency in 2016.

After a long absence from the political arena, Palin appears to be strategically increasing her appearances and speeches while also taking solid aim at President Obama. This has led many political experts to conclude that she is aiming to enter the 2016 presidential race, or at least is trying to test the waters for a potential run.

The rumors kicked up a bit this week when a spokesman for the Rev. Billy Graham announced that Sarah Palin will be a guest for the reverend’s 95th birthday. Graham still carries great political sway, so much in fact that Mitt Romney carved out time to meet with Graham in the final days of the 2012 presidential race in the hopes of earning a public endorsement and assuring conservative voters.

Graham’s birthday celebration is also drawing other big names in the conservative world, including real estate mogul Donald Trump.

Sarah Palin has also taken her political tour to Iowa, one of the most important states for Republican hopefuls. On November 9 Palin is slated to speak at the annual banquet for the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, an important conservative and evangelical group.

After spending a long stretch away from the spotlight, Palin is also ramping up her political attacks on President Obama in what could be the groundwork for her 2016 platform.

In a Facebook post entitled “Obama’s Debt Default is on His Shoulders While We Shoulder His Impeachable Offenses,” she placed the blame for the debt limit fight solely on Obama’s shoulders.

“Defaulting on our national debt is an impeachable offense, and any attempt by President Obama to unilaterally raise the debt limit without Congress is also an impeachable offense,” Palin wrote.

If Sarah Palin is planning a 2016 presidential run, she will have even more ammunition to boost her resume in the coming weeks. On November 12, three days after her planned speech in Iowa, Palin will be released a book taking on the conservative-friendly topic of the War on Christmas.

Pain promises that in the book — titled Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas — she will “tell you how to fight back against those politically correct Scrooges who seem to hate not just a beautiful holiday, but an entire faith.”

Sarah Palin is still a long way from an official 2016 presidential run, however, and likely wouldn’t declare any intention to run for several months.

What is power??? If you define power as to who sits in the WH, that is a fairly narrow view...

We have bigger problems if we do not clean up, and maintain our houses, first and foremost...The Presidency means nothing in a depressed economic, and socially unstable environment we have right now...

Sure, your concern about our condition in 7 years may be the one thing we risk...But it is at a precipice anyway, as we speak...It is not anymore a risk to position ourselves for a more viable political push for the CEO position in 2020, as it is to waste our efforts in a vain attempt in 2016...

We have TWO fronts to defeat in this race to restore our country...One is the obvious liberal/socialist/media complex...And TWO, the entrenched republican leadership and its moderate and feckless leadership...

As much as I feel it would be great to knock them off together, it is better to waste one at a time, and let the other wither on the vine by making that one a non-factor in the near future...

Our efforts and premium political talents whould be held in reserve until we knock off the foundation of their opposition, and discredit their effectiveness by keeping the ceremonial head of state as powerless as possible as they may still have a little teeth to protect their legacy, for now...

Controlling the legislative side of the equation forst is a better path, in my opinion at this time, as we have already seen from the last two efforts forced upon us by the moderates in the leadership of the republicans, from the likes of McCain and Romney to lose it all, for the sake of popularity without a real chance of winning in the first place...

I say lets rope a dope, give them Christie to chew on, but win the legislative branch first, get that secured, and decimate the agenda, and destroy their poster child Hillary in the best way possible...At the same time, the media complex that will hold her water anyway...

If Christie were to some how win the Presidency, and we not do anything to gain our foothold in the trenches in the legislative branch, that will produce ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to correct the situation for conservatism and our country in the near-term...And it will be difficult to gain conservative control and purge ourselves as much as possible of the RINO factor infecting the Legislative branch now...

We are going to have to open our minds up to more posibilities, politically and socially, outside the idea of winning just the WH, and forgetting once again that the purse strings and legislation that is continuing to destroy this country is happening right now, in our current situation...

We will not lose if Hillary beats Christie in 2016, and we gain (and maintain) the majorities in both houses leading up to 2020...It will bode better for us in the long term...

Sure she can appoint, or nominate Judges, but they still have to go through the committees that we will control during that time...

Want to have Christie and the feckless wonders who have successfully been throwing us under the bus for the last 20 some odd years produce moderate and capitulating nominees to those positions just because we want to somehow fel better politically oif we win the WH right now???

And that’s just the Judges...What about the legislation Christie will roll over and sign, because of bi-partisan, play nice to get along crap, we have seen recently???

I do not believe we can win both houses, and the Presidency in 2016, in this particular political and social environment, it will never be allowed...By both sides...

I believe we stand a better chance of keeping our Aces in the hole for one more cycle, let them have Christie, or whomever, as political fodder, and make gains in the legislative branch in 2014 and 2016...Use 2018 a a stepping stone for the big one in 2020...

I assure everyone that the risk, politically, is palletably for that timeframe...I know everyone would like to really stick it to the democrats and GOPe right this second, I can dig it...I really do...But the social environemnt is the third factor, that has not been included in these discussions either...And we have NO chance without maintaining and making gains in the states and what is sent to DC to set the stage for a better environment for our hand in 2020...

Just my opinion...

“But for admittedly mostly unfair reasons, she’s toxic and can never, ever be elected president.”

Same here. I’ve said time and time again, you stick your neck out EARLY as a GOP candidate, you get hit hard by the lib media. She did exactly that.

Cruz has a better shot now and all he has to do is keep quiet until late next year. Keep your head down and don’t allow the media to get a sniff of your intentions.

I will admit that Palin would be fantastic as Chief of Staff or SecDef just to piss off the libtards.

I don;t believe she’s going to run for the Presidency......she’s very much in Cruz’z corner and will certainly rally for him and others.

I think she had enough of the press and will not put her family through that.....heck even Bill Clinton mentioned the brutality of what it takes out of a family and individuals.

However she will be a shinning light on those who do run and she’ll be quick to speak up against those who are off mark. That we do know.

I hope she has fun and gets plenty active, which I believe she will...but I will not be surprised if our guys win they scoop her up for an administration position...which I think she’d be up for.

Meanwhile if the press thinks she might run then Sarah can keep them occupied while the ones who do want to run get prepared.....she makes a great moving target as we know!

<...”ONE will run and one will gracefully stand down by mutual agreement”....>

I agree...and likely already determined....Palin will make a great moving target for the press early on while others get firmly positioned.....I sincerely don’t think she desires the Presidency and made that clear...I believe her.

I don’t want to see re-runs...and for the very reason you mentioned I can’t believe she will run. She knows her credibility in that respect would be more than questionable.

But lots of Freepers still want her to run....I’d like to see her in the administration...over all the oil issues! Get us off form Saudi Oil...and she could do that well!

If you knew the mess she made of oil and gas exploration in Alaska, you wouldn't be so enthusiastic.

Yeah, a mess for some folk!

... As Alaska governor, Ms. Palin insisted upon and signed a law in 2008 that increased the tax on oil company profits from 22.5 percent to 25 percent and made it progressive. For every $2 increase in the oil price above $50 a barrel, the tax rose 0.2 percent. When oil hit $113 a barrel, the state ran a $17 billion surplus during the Great Recession while sending a check for $1,200 to every Alaskan.

****

Ms. Palin's biggest accomplishment has been to jump-start work on the giant gas pipeline, expected to cost more than $30 billion. When she took office, a deal negotiated between former Gov. Frank Murkowski and the oil companies was rejected by the state legislature because it gave the industry favorable fiscal terms without extracting any guarantees the project would move forward. Progress on a pipeline was completely stalled.

Ms. Palin pushed for new public negotiations, including a piece of legislation to provide $500 million in incentives to induce work on a pipeline. Earlier this week, she signed the legislation into law, selecting Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. to build the pipeline.

Her work is widely credited with forcing BP and ConocoPhillips to start work on another pipeline project, called Denali. ...

****

... The Alaska political corruption probe refers to a 2004 to 2010 widespread investigation by the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Internal Revenue Service into political corruption of nine then-current or former Alaskan state lawmakers, as well as Republican US Representative Don Young and then-US Senator, Republican Ted Stevens. Sometimes referred to as 'The Corrupt Bastard's Club' or the 'Polar Pen Investigation', the investigation focused on the oil industry, fisheries and for-profit prison industries.

By Spring of 2006, the FBI set up in a Baranof hotel suite just three blocks away from the capitol building in Juneau. From their position in the hotel suite, they gathered evidence, such as a videotape of VECO's CEO Bill Allen arranging paper money for legislators, and made other observations By August 2008, the investigation resulted in indictments against six sitting or former Alaska Republican state legislators on corruption charges. In August 2008 US Senator Ted Stevens was indicted and, by October, he was convicted in Washington, D.C. on seven felony counts of failure to disclose gifts. The convictions, eight days before the November 2008 election, resulted in his narrow loss to Democrat Mark Begich after 40 years in the U.S. Senate. His convictions were later set aside and the United States Department of Justice declined further prosecution. ... -wiki

Jeepers...this thread is reading now like a re-run from when the question if she’d run or not was the issue.....not to mention the McCain Palin issues....WOW...can hardly believe the past is on the front burner here....

I don’t think she is toxic and adored her in the beginning but flaked out last minute after that crazy lyingassed book which I think spooked her...lies or not....sleeping with black guys and God knows what else....even though made up why drag your loved ones thru all that with such a vile media and GOP?

Even though she had done little organizational team prep like a serious candidate

But none of that matters to exactly the same bunch on this thread who did it last time

You criticize when she’s wrong....and she is on occasion...

And they deny it and go full blown ad hominem begging Jim for a zot

Its crazy....and childish

Then when she flaked out...quietly to Levin...after we had all waited

The same bunch ran to the black guy and behaved the same way again

The cult of the candidate....some here are plain obsessed with it

And now we get to go thru all this shit all over again

And its way too damned early

I think Cruz is a much better sharper candidate even though Sarah gives speeches that mist my own eyes no doubt

But I’m not married to Cruz...who knows who shows up

There are several I like.....

We all know who we don’t like ....Christie...and the GOPe will push him

We have to win big tea party wise next year and then we can push the GOP around

Just look what they did to Cuccinneli....its a travesty... they want him to lose to use against us

Sarah can help in that fight no question

But put me on record... I doubt she runs....nor will I hold my breath

Cruz looks like he will though thus far

And let’s don’t forget sunshine Satan....Jeb

I mean do we ever run out of dipshit GOP culture war jellyfish

Gonna take lotsa political ammo to defeat our own jackasses once and for all

Speaking of which....where are all the old Bushies here with the “Rove....You Magnificent Bastard!” Fan club crap

See what I mean....time was you couldn’t go hard on Bush or Rove either

None of that is healthy....this GOP is so loathsome these days they deserve nothing but skepticism

And nor should any candidate be above criticism....how we do or do not savage candidates here in those abominable primaries means not a damn thing but to our own egos

Sarah was muzzled by the McCain run and I’m completely convinced this is a woman who does not want that again...she loves the freedom she has to speak her mind and that without strings to others....though I’m sure she will support those who are conservative ahead...that is what she loves doing and shines in that capacity.

However...and administative position would be great...maybe in the oil arena...she sure knew how to get things done in Alaska in that respect.

“...Governor Palin is the only candidate who can connect with the conservative grassroots and the middle and blue collar (rank and file) union workers abandoned by the Democrats....”

That’s not true...there are others who can equally do so...Cruz for one and he’s already doing so....

I’m in Cruz’z corner if he runs unless they put up someone equally as good and I don’t see any in the pipeline so far....I like the fact he knows how Washington works and manuver it....and that he knows the law....he doesn’t appear to miss a trick....

I guess you like socialism. The tax halted further oil and gas exploration. Congratulations.

Then you really won’t like this. I’m beginning to think she does this just for money. Hints that she might run. Everybody donates to her PAC, and then she says she was just funnin’ and walks away with the money until the next Presidential election.

She needs to support Cruz loudly and clearly and early and not split the conservative base with her teasing.

The tax halted further oil and gas exploration.

Facts, please. I know that's asking a lot when there is an axe to grind.

Alaska DNR

Current Exploration Licenses and Pending Applications

The state has issued five exploration licenses covering 1.25 million acres and has received applications for three other areas.

... At Prudhoe Bay, up to 8 billion cubic feet of natural gas is produced daily and ...injected back into the ground to maintain reservoir pressure and produce more oil. This injection has improved oil recovery and extended the life of the field beyond initial estimates. In addition, some components of the produced natural gas are used to make miscible injectant, which is deployed/utilized for enhanced oil recovery.

Other than the small portion of gas that is liquefied as natural gas liquids (NGLs) for shipment down the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, there are no means at present to transport North Slope gas to markets. Today, Alaska gas is facing intense competition from abundant shale gas resources in the Lower 48 states. The Department of Energy estimates that by 2020, unconventional gas, such as shale gas, will account for more than 50 percent of total US production. However, BP is committed to evaluating alternatives to commercializing our North Slope gas resources, and we are working with other major North Slope gas lease owners to determine the commercial feasibility of Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) export. -BP

I don’t see it happening and would support Cruz or Paul over her.

Don’t get me wrong: I think the world of Sarah Palin. I just don’t think she would be able to run for President at this point and win. She needs to do something else like US Senator from AZ if she has further ambitions to run for political office. And truth be told, I don’t see anything to indicate that she wants to run for political office. She seems to be perfectly happy doing what she is doing.
