With all the talk about the failures of Obamacare and dismal economic numbers, something happened last week that you may have missed. On Friday afternoon, which means it was overlooked by most members of the media, Barack Obama issued an executive order which could bring sweeping new power to himself and could allow him to bypass Congress all in the name of combatting "climate change."
Under the title Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change, Obama's executive order seeks to pour more federal funds into controlling... the weather. That's right. Apparently Obama feels that controlling America's healthcare is not enough. Now, he wants to put the federal government in charge of actions that could affect the weather.
As Fox News reports, "President Obama on Friday used his executive powers to elevate and take control of climate change policies in an attempt to streamline sustainability initiatives - and potentially skirt legislative oversight and push a federal agenda on states."
Obama's new task force, which is created in the executive order, is stacked... stacked with liberals who will be willing to advance his agenda:
The executive order establishes a task force of state and local officials to advise the administration on how to respond to severe storms, wildfires, droughts and other potential impacts of climate change. The task force includes governors of seven states -- all Democrats -- and the Republican governor of Guam, a U.S. territory. Fourteen mayors and two other local leaders also will serve on the task force.
All but three of those appointed are Democrats. The task force will look at federal money spent on roads, bridges, flood control and other projects. It ultimately will recommend how structures can be made more resilient to the effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels and warming temperatures.
The Hill reports that the task force is charged with coming up with ideas for "removing barriers to resilient investments, modernizing Federal grant and loan programs to better support local efforts, and developing the information and tools they need to prepare." Can someone tell me what that means?
What's hidden in the vague wording are actions designed to give Barack Obama even more control. Fox News notes a number of potential problems with Obama's action:
-- Hold back money to communities unless they meet new standards on various items and agendas set by the federal government. For example, using new policies that will encourage communities to rebuild to pre-disaster standards instead of stronger ones.
-- A possible mandate to bring sweeping new changes to land use and resource policies.
-- More control and refocus of climate change data and use of it to push a new agenda into every priority of the federal government.
-- Create the need for a new internal organization for coordination efforts during a government sequestration and possible future shutdowns.

They use the word “watershed” in the EO. ALL land is part of a “watershed”. They are looking to have the power to control what happens on ALL the land . . . you own it, but they control how you use it. Constitutional private property rights fly right out the window. I don’t know how this could remotely be Constitutional, but then again, ObamaCare was not either.

So my OBVIOUS question is: What alcove has the GOP leadership chosen to hide in while they write their statements saying how despicable Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are, and how concerned they are about global warming and how glad they are we have such a strong leader to pilot us through this crisis?

I am sure the FOX haters will try to attack that fact but it is a fact.
