High deductibles used to be a way to determine what level of coverage you are willing to buy. If you could afford a higher deductible, it was smart to choose that and often the savings from monthly premiums made up the high deductible. Now we appear to have lost the choice because our overlords think they know better.

“Wouldn’t it have been cheaper, for the gov to just put everybody on medicare?”

1. Theoretically you had to work and pay into the Medicare system for decades before you became eligible for it. Yet, you’re proposing to GIVE to everyone else what you worked for all your life to obtain?

2. Medicare is GROSSLY underfunded and is not sustainable in its current form. But you’re proposing to add tens of millions of MORE people to a non-sustainable situation?

3. Obamacare is not about healthcare reform: it’s about redistribution of earnings. Obamacare is all about transferring money from one group to another: from young to old, from healthy to sick, from earners to non-earners.

So THAT’s why GIVING everyone Medicare was not done.

The dunces who wish for single payer will be the first ones to howl when the get it and find out what it actually is. Just as the supporters of Obamacare are howling now that they are getting screwed by their hero. Of course, they never learn.

Reread my post I was not proposing it, I asked the question, "would it have been cheaper".

well, the high monthly premiums won't leave any money to pat for the services to ever meet the deductible.

You'd be living to pay for your Obamacare.

I just took your question at face value and answered it.

Why spend $1,200 per year for Medicare part B if you’re not even meeting the $150 deductible each year?

In my view, it's cheap insurance, because if you're old enough to be in Medicare, there's a decent chance you will need it during the year.

No, you didn't. You said that I "proposed to put everybody on medicare", I most emphatically did not.

Further, that I'm "proposing to put 10s of millions more on an unsustainable situation" - Your words, not mine because I said no such thing and you know it. You made it up, which makes you a lot like obama, make up a lot of shit, sling it out there and see what sticks.

The words I want from you but never in a million years will I see, is for you to write. "I made a mistake friend, I apologize".

Go ahead and have the last word - as if you'd have it any other way.
