Other Wyoming politicos who’ve tried to stay above the fray have found themselves drawn into the feud, notably Alan Simpson, the former Republican senator known for his crotchety demeanor. The Cheneys and the Simpsons were at a charity gala in Cody, Wyoming, when Lynne Cheney—Liz’s mother, Dick’s wife, and a writer of racy novels—allegedly approached Simpson and told him to “shut your mouth.” Simpson’s daughter-in-law posted about the incident on her Facebook page, and the local press picked up the story. Lynne issued a statement asserting that the interaction “simply did not happen.”
This denial apparently sent Simpson into a rage.

I don’t think so. And a number of folks said the same about Ted Cruz when he was running against the RINO (and GOPe “fair haired boy) Dewhurst in the 2012 Texas Senate Republican primary. They were wrong about Cruz and I’m pretty sure anybody saying the same about Liz Cheney will be proven wrong.

Sorry. To be clear, my bouts referred to “senior moments” which I suffer occasionally. My wife quickly corrects me when I suffer a senior moment.

I don’t think it is a new tradition. It has been around as long as the Nation and predates it elsewhere as well.
The Lee family, the Adams family, the Frelinghuysens of New Jersey, all through the previous centuries. In England even without the landed Peers, the tradition was the same.
Burke had a lot to say about “natural aristocracy” as opposed to hereditary aristocracy. We see it skipping generations as well. People look upon their elder family members choices and service with respect and often want to follow in their footsteps in the military, medicine, business and elsewhere.
While it is true that in politics name recognition issues are different from other professions, I would not condemn this outright except with people trying to start a dynasty in the same office such as the Kennedy, Bush and Clinton families.

The incumbent is not a s—t disturber like Liz could be. I’d prefer she run in Virginia but if that punk wins the gov’s job that would suggest that she’s being prudent. We just need new blood and I hope more well known candidates step up against the real rino’s out there. Ain’t gonnna happen.
