DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A single mother wrote to ABC11 to share a story of what happened to her family at a Pizza Hut in Durham.
The Raleigh woman said the past few years have been very trying for her family. She is going through a messy divorce, has had to move several times, and had to take a year off from attending college. She said recently she found out that her 4-year-old daughter has bullying tendencies, and her 6-year-old son is living with Asperger's and ADHD.
Every Friday night, the woman takes her family on a dinner tour where they eat at a different restaurant each week. On Friday, the family went straight from daycare and after school to the Pizza Hut off Sherron Road.
It was around 6 p.m., and her son's medication had long worn off. She was left with parenting lessons she had learned from classes and reading.
She said after they were seated, she saw a young man seated alone in a nearby booth. As she would normally do, the mother apologized for how loud the children were going to be and asked him to forgive them.
He told her not to worry because he had three children of his own and could relate.
The mother and her children went on with their meal. The woman practiced her usual engaging behavior trying to keep the kids occupied and on their best behavior....

I managed a Pizza Hut Delivery/Carry Out place in Durham NC back in the late 1980’s.
Awwwww.
Stories like this really make a person’s day - thanks!
North Carolina has a lot of good people.
I would have signed it “A Tea Party Republican”.
I already disliked gays when I was 4 too.
Then it would’ve never made the news. GUARANTEED!
“She said recently she found out that her 4-year-old daughter has bullying tendencies, and her 6-year-old son is living with Asperger’s and ADHD.”
So? I had both ADHD and Asperger’s as a kid when it wasn’t an in thing to have (and still have severe symptoms as an adult), and I didnt need any medication nor did I ever engage in behavior like this in public or else I would have a visit to Dr. Belt in the parking lot.
That’s “child abuse” now and your parents likely would lose custody of you. My teachers and principals would be in jail for some of the lighter punishments from my day.
I agree with you 100%. Children need discipline, sometimes Dr. Belt discipline. They don't even resent it, unless it's unfair or unwarranted.
Why allow disabled children to become BRATS?
Not for nothing but what does having “bullying tendencies” have to do with gays?
It used to be that well-behaved children was the norm in restaurants...and in school, the library, church... Kudos to the mom, but it should not be the exception.
It's a proven fact that this world is not over populated by superhumans such as yourself nor those who are willing to brag about it.........
On behalf of all on this website, I bow down and bless every day that I have had the opportunity to be in your company.........Only divine intervention could have provided this moment for us to be in your life. I/we are truly in awe of you.......
And bikers.
Leftist code-speak. Much of the anti-bullying campaigns have been aimed at squelching admonishment of gay behavior, and that's why homosexual advocates such as Dan Savage are involved. If some boy is dressing and talking like a girl, other kids are supposed to accept the behavior. Telling such a boy to stop being a "queer" is codified as bullying.

Yeah. Ok.
Like I said, I found ways to deal with this when it wasn’t a cool “disease” to have in order to explain why a kid is being rude and uncontrollable. I took care of it with various hobbies from amateur astronomy, stamp collecting, and drawing to woodworking, computer programming, and logic puzzles. I also read lots of non-fiction.
Acting like an ass at a restaurant and expecting my parents to apologize to the public beforehand would be as likely as Darth Vader serving me salad on a gold plate.
So no, there is no superhuman secret. And it isnt bragging if it worked.
