Shit...where else in this world could one expect to see living examples of sloth, gluttony and greed all in one place.
Even more disheartening are the pictures of the ‘gooders’ [see, “V” the series] enabling the leeches with willing hearts, giving away OTHER PEOPLE’s money, of course!
I do not begrudge or wish to cut benefits to those who are afflicted with genuinely serious disabilities. Perhaps in some cases their benefits should be raised.
I am frustrated to see so many otherwise=healthy, capable people signing up for all the various dole programs you refer to.
Rather than any across-the-board cut in benefit levels, I believe a serious (honest and still
“compassionate”) culling of the rolls, whereby anyone capable of working is removed entirely, would be the better approach.
It appears that in the last 3 or 4 years especially, millions of unqualified people have been enrolled in programs that are designed to serve much smaller “worthy” populations.
This seems to be a far more serious problem than the last $36 in benefit levels.
Good. This will be $36 less that will be competing against me for the same groceries. If we cut it down even further, I might be able to buy bananas for 49¢/lb again.

Oregon’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has again ‘ranked among the best in the nation’, ....the United States Department of Agriculture announced this week.
The state earned one award for ‘ensuring that people eligible for food benefits receive them and a second ‘recognition for its swift processing of applications’.
The two awards combined bring a “$5 MILLION performance bonus to Oregon.”
...... the program has grown by over 14 million recipients in the three years of the Food Stamp Recipients administration, the bureaucrats are rewarding states for adding more recipients.
Apparently, Idaho was also a recipient of ‘a food stamp bonus to the tune of $1.2 million’ in 2010.

Of course, you’ve likely seen an enormous increase in people availing themselves with this - and so many other government entitlement programs.
One would think those actually needy of this should-be-infrequent benefit would vehemently complain - but they do NOT. Why is that?
My position is that Government should not be the sole provider of Charity. That is a function of free will and the private citizens of this country as it used to be.
The Government forcibly taking over this function and allowing (colluding for) it to be used as an enslavement and voting encouragement is pure poison against the reasons upon which this country was founded.
Frankly, your apprehension at speaking out against this largess without mentioning the ‘truly needy’ suggests to me what an almost-impossible barrier free people are up against. In other words, I honestly urge you to start thinking more critically about this abuse and damage to our country without going back to “those needy” that still need it. It dilutes and diminishes our ability to stop the abuts.
