Nearly 2 million New Yorkers who rely on food stamps will have less to spend at the supermarket starting Friday — and it may only be the beginning.
The average family of four on food stamps is expected to lose $36 each month, according to the Department of Agriculture, because funding added to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program in 2009 under the federal stimulus program ran out Thursday.

So parts of the stimulus are finally ending, 5 years later. It’s amazing what a few continuing resolutions can to to prop up spending.

being on food stamps,as with a job at McDonalds, was never meant to be a career.
They are particularly disgusting. They aren’t black as most here might think....they are all (nearly) white (trailer/rent trash in my opinion), many many are overweight and approaching obesity. [US Census for Pickens: 96% white, 1% black, 3% other]
They are blatant users and don’t give a rat’s damn what people think. They are proud of it. My belief is most of them lie about assets, income and whatever it takes to get SNAP. They drive nice cars, they don’t have rent (well familiar with how Section 8, TANF, WICs works), and they get all the things they really have to pay cash for with their EITC cash once a year.
Useless, worthless, pitiless human trash not worth a second thought if it weren’t for the fact they are stealing from us.

A large percentage look like they need to skip a few meals.
Because politicians are known for and prone to boondoggle pork does NOT negate the fact that useless leeches taking SNAP, EITC, Section 8, WICs and all the rest are ruining this nation so they can sit on their ass and do nothing while ineptly raising their offspring.
I frankly do not know if this. $36 cut is good or not. I do perceive there are many many food stamp recipients who are capable of working and feeding themselves just fine. I would prefer to see all those people removed from the rolls before we cut off the ding dongs of anyone with genuinely serious disabilities. Just my two cents worth. I never seem to get what I want in political matters anyway so please nobody get excited Best regards

Your thinking neglects the very real potential/probability that SNAP is the ONLY assistance they get.
These people network, collude, scam and communicate all the best ways to “get-over on the man”..
These people are KILLING this country. Feeling sorry for them is what they count on from you.
I see no power in the constitution for this. The "general welfare" clause was not intended to operate as a wealth transfer device. It was supposed to limit the federal government's role, not expand it.
They get SNAP, WICS, EITC, Section 8, Obamaphone, gas/electricity/water bill assistance (they all apply for those utility company ‘gooder’ funds), local church food banks, community food banks and any other bleeding heart liberal give-away available.
They can cry in front of you ‘on cue’ and whine about how bad they and their children have it.
So, if a family is fraudulently collecting benefits for 100 recipients, then that's $3600/month lost. That's some serious money, so I can understand the concern.
They are losing less % wise than people who work have over the last few years, seems to me.
How much are insurance costs increasing for others? Ours certainly has increased much more than that and will most probably be much worse next year.
