Chinese state-run media revealed for the first time this week that Beijings nuclear submarines can attack American cities as a means to counterbalance U.S. nuclear deterrence in the Pacific.
On Monday, leading media outlets including China Central TV, the Peoples Daily, the Global Times, the PLA Daily, the China Youth Daily and the Guangmin Daily ran identical, top-headlined reports about the awesomeness of the People's Liberation Army navys strategic submarine force.
This is the first time in 42 years since the establishment of our navys strategic submarine force that we reveal on such a large scale the secrets of our first-generation underwater nuclear force, the Global Times said in a lengthy article titled China for the First Time Possesses Effective Underwater Nuclear Deterrence against the United States.

Ping.
I wonder what the dot in Michigan is supposed to be? Lansing?
Commercial aircraft flight.
Oh sorry I read the post now.
Thanks.
My understanding from previous threads is that the U.S. can detect the location of the four subs of current generation of Chinese SSBNs, but the Chinese cannot detect the location of the eighteen Ohio-class SSBNs, which are technologically at least two decades more advanced. Is this correct. This story sounds like an idle threat.
Look at this article - Re: Bill Clinton treason - giving missile guidance technology to China.
Just because we can detect them doesn't mean we can stop them. Do you think we will sink them as soon as they are detected within missile range?
Post at least 2 links proving that please.
Even if detected, there exists today no viable "missile shield" defense to stop an attack by SLBMs off either coast. Detection does not equal defense.
Moreover, an SLBM launch gives us about 7 minutes warning to every city on both coasts.
We have not seriously considered these a threat since the end of the Cold War. Our nation has become the second most obese on the planet while we are watching "reality TV." We are now a nation of takers. Americans are oblivious to the military threats posed against us.
I suspect slick willie was questioning the age of Changs younger sister..!

Why would China want to attack the greatest provider of their jobs and the largest importer of their products?
Why make it so obvious when all they had to do was smother her.....
The PLAN is well behind the US in Nuclear submarine technology. But they are making great strides now, as they are with everything else.
There five old Type 091 Han class SSNs are vintage. They have decommissioned two and have three that are sea worthy. But they would be immediate toast in any combat sutuation against any modern US, UK, Korean, Japanese, or Australian sub or surface combatant. They are good however for surveillance and patrol duties. And they would reak havoc against commercial shipping.
They built two Type 093 Shang subs in the mid 2000s. They wanted these to be as good as our initial LA class boats, but they fell short in quieting. They are far better than their Hans, but still three generations behind the US. They stopped building them at two.
They have since improved the bunch with the Type 093B Shangs and they may be as good as the initial LA class boats. But our imprived LA class boats are a lot better, not to mention the Sea Wolf class and the Virginia cClass we are now building.
The Chinese are now building a new variety, the Type 095 SSN which may be as good or better than our intial LA class boats.
With their SSBN Nuclear missile subs, for the longest time they had the one, the Type 092 Xia. It does carry SLBMs, but they are relatively short range, and the boat is loud. We would find it in an instant and probably always know exactly where it is at all times.
They built four Type 094 Jin class SSBNs. Two are in service and two are in trials. They carry up to 16 missiles that are much longer range, and they are quieter...but no where near as quiet as our Ohio class SSBNs or the UKs Vanguard class for example. we would find them relatively quickly, but they can hit a lot of our Western Pacific Bases, Hawaii and Alaska and never leave the China Sea, so they are a part of the Chinese deterrent. Their newer missiles, and the newer class they are building can hit well into the central areas of the Mainland.
They are supposed to be quieter still, but noe have been completed yet, and they will probably build a maximum of four of the boats over 9 years once they are.
As it is, with their SSNs, which they will use to protect the SSBNNs and the aircraft carriers, the Type 093 Class SSNs can be dangerous, and should not be underestimated. In the hands of a good captain, one of ouer older, initial LA Class boats is also dangerous and not to be taken for granted, but they are still far behind our latest technologies. We have just launched our 11th Virginia Class SSN.
We will have to see how quiet they make their new Type 095 SSNs, but they will build two of them at first and it would be a long, long time before they had them in any numbers...and they will still be at least one or more generations behind our boats.
Also, if you look very carefully... No San Francisco.
True, but that wouldn’t have gotten the message out that the fate of anyone messing with Clinton would be similarly punished.
Kinda like Rahm Emanuel stabbing a knife into a table every time he mentioned the name of a republican when he was at a gathering.
Bold and in your face was Clinton and his ilk, knowing he could get away with it. Like Obama now.
American providing jobs to China and buying products from China, allows China to become stronger.
As in militarily stronger.
America needs jobs.
No San Francisco LEFT...it gets nuked.
The map makes you think (at it did me) that it only covered 1/2 of the US but not so.
Just like Hitler had all the homo’s in the SS killed after they served his purpose.
The leftists always seem to destroy first those they have enabled.
Give the preverts full rein and protection so that they will have no fear of revealing who they are.
Then they are zapped, much easier targets to find.
