The GOP Establishment Strikes Back (Against the Tea Party)
Washington Post ^ | October 31 | CHRIS CILLIZZA AND SEAN SULLIVAN

Posted on 10/31/2013 3:30:18 PM PDT by nickcarraway

After spending much of the last few years trying to placate a growing universe of outside groups demanding complete fealty to conservative principles, the Republican establishment is showing signs of being mad as hell and not willing to take it anymore.

Consider this report from Politico’s Manu Raju about a meeting of Senate Republicans on Wednesday:

Extending an olive branch to GOP senators, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is privately making it clear he won’t engage in the Senate Conservatives Fund’s hardball tactics to defeat his colleagues in their primary races. At a closed-door lunch meeting of Senate Republicans Wednesday, the freshman conservative told his colleagues that he would not intervene in their 2014 primary fights or fundraise for the controversial outside group. Cruz added that the SCF’s decision to try to defeat sitting GOP senators in their primaries was its alone, according to several people familiar with the session.

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said she wouldn’t comment on a private lunch but added that Cruz’s position on not participating in election activity for the Senate Conservatives Fund, which grew out of former South Carolina senator Jim DeMint’s political world, is nothing new. “In accordance with his previous comments that he will likely not get involved in any incumbent primaries, he won’t be involved in endorsements or fundraising for SCF to that end,” said Frazier.

I read that say that Ted will not work against incumbent Republicans, but he won’t work to help them either.

A position he must take to avoid being ganged up on.

Ted Cruz is wise to stay in his own backyard. Folks resent interlopers during local elections.

The “Republican Establishment” is little different from the Democrat Establishment - both seek to remove all choice from the American people and grab all power for Washington insiders.

Corruption just gets more and more corrupt.

I noticed that you didn’t write news with the s on the end. Because “news” it isn’t.

Push will come to shove at the next Republican National Convention. Unless conservatives can take control of enough state party caucuses, the establishment will again take over the committees and minimize even a majority of conservative delegates by rule changes, etc.

In 1968, the radical faction in the Democrat party tried very hard to overcome the more moderate Democrat leadership, and failed, even though they turned out rioters outside the convention and crippled the party in the election.

But by 1972, the radicals had become strong enough to take over the party, and systematically purge the moderates, and they have been in control of the party ever since.

In 2010, the conservatives did much the same at the Republican convention, but the liberals were able to cling to power. So hopefully by 2014, the conservatives will be strong enough to take over the party.

Importantly, there can be no cooperation with the Republican liberals, so after conservatives are in charge, the liberals are going to have to be purged. There is pretty much no way around this.

Beating GOPe country clubbers is a grassroots movement by the Tea Party and conservatives, and it matters little or nothing if conservative politicians join in. They should be more worried about screwing up and getting themselves primaried. The GOPe bathhouse boys might be mad as hell, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to take it anymore. They can become honest, or keep playing with Democrats, but they will become lonely or out of work if they choose the latter.

Cruz is smart. Conservatives voters aren’t sheep and we can oust RINOs on our own.

The Washington Post has no credibility on politics, Conservatives, or Senator Ted Cruz. And not much credibility on anything else.

Cruz is wise to stay away from primaries of other GOP senators.
There’s no upside in it.

They reside in a pup tent on the country club golf course and beat anyone who tries to get in with their golf clubs.

This was the GOP when Reagan came along...they are Demoncraps and happy to be global socialists with their friends across the aisle.
