It is late October, so Adrianne Flowers is out of money to buy food for her family. That is no surprise. Feeding five kids is expensive, and the roughly $600 in food stamps she gets from the federal government never lasts the whole month. "I'm barely making it," said the 31-year-old Washington, D.C., native and single mother.
Starting Friday, the money is likely to run out even quicker.
That is when Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits are set to fall for more than 47 million lower-income people -- 1 in 7 Americans -- most of whom live in households with children, seniors or people with disabilities. Barring congressional intervention, the maximum payment for a family of four will shrink from $668 a month to $632, or $432 over the course of a year.

WOW, that’s more than I spend for groceries in a month for myself and 4 kids. Must be nice!
well bud, I am a family lawyer
in most cases, the dudes aren’t there to care for the children and the mothers are
so maybe that accounts for it
oh, don’t get me wrong, the dudes do not want to pay child support so they will try to get custody to avoid child support
but they give the children to the grandmothers to raise and continue to go out whoring and drinking
creeping federalism
the Federal government wants to own you
if you let them, sad for you
And yet look at the photo in the article. . .
Bottled Water. Smart Phone. And on the mantelpiece, what appear to be several bottled of champagne or sparkling wine.
When she can’t afford tap water, a regular phone, and NO alcoholic beverages. . . . maybe THEN she has standing to complain. . .
That's one heck of a lot more free and clear discretionary money each month than working Americans who are footing the bills for all this.
Judge Judy went ballistic the other day----this enchanting latina w/ two kids was suing for a $700 car loan she made to her grinning latino b/f.
JJ asked where she get the money for the loan. Smiling winsomely, the latina said she "saved it up" from cash advances sap-happy California gives her.
JJ went ballistic----she was getting so much free money she actually could save up $700?
Then the latina slipped up---said she also got UI checks (and God knows what other freebies).
JJ threw her out of the courtroom....calling her a scammer.
L/E needs to check this out---this scumbag obviously is falsifying official documents to get money....and that's a felony.
that’s how my little sister views it
as a gravy train
whoever promises the most loot for her is who she votes for
she is on disability
probably medicaid and probably food stamps
Let me see here...
1. Look at the table. Bottled water? Drink it out of the tap like most folks.
2. Look at the mantle. Quit buying so much booze and apply that money to your food bill.
3. Sell the popcorn machine.
4. Get rid of the 0bama smart phone.
5. Stop buying disposible plates. Buy real ones and wash them.
6. Stop buying scented candles.
Problem solved.
“In the inner city there is NO stigma for free lunch”.
No stigma either where my kids attend middle school. Of 193 students, almost 50% receive “free” lunch. This is not an inner city district and it’s far from poor.

When we first got custody of our kids 5 years ago, we enrolled them in school. As a condition of getting custody we had to leave them on medicaid, until we could get legal guardianship, at which time, I could add them to my insurance.
Because they were on medicaid, the school informed us that they were entitled to “free” lunch, I informed them right back that we would feed our own kids.
We adopted both of them, in May 2012:

No more government interference.
Even 30 years ago the kids from that demograhic, that paid for lunch at school, were ridiculed in my ‘hood.
The underlying implication being they and/or their parents were just too stupid to game the system somehow.
Yep, I live in Kansas
Thank God
Where are you?
These plaintiffs/defendants ALL get appearance money and money for judgments ..
Nice looking bunch there.
Hopefully your political leanings will be assimilated.
good question
*All* men are like that, aren’t they?
You’re correct to a point. We don’t necessarily want to pay child support, especially if it’s at unreasonable levels.
My ex-wife has a house w/ no mortgage, had a good job, retired early on “disability” and sucked on child support from me for 11+ years. All the while playing games with visitation.
I’m still paying a mortgage on a 2nd home and will be for the next 20 years. I can’t retire b/c my finances were so gutted by the People’s Republic of Maryland (not a father friendly state).
That’s “family law” for you.
Quite sincerely, “bud”
Yes, I do know-—but she got no cash judgment from an exasperated JJ.
Odd. This woman cannot manage to feed herself and her five children on $600 a month, but my wife manages to feed our family of six on $500 a month... and that includes the budget for cleaning supplies and paper goods.
Deep southlandia. Grew up here in fact. My HS was 50/50 white/black. 30 years ago even middle class black kids were on the free lunch program. Fraud is longterm with that system.
wonder where she stashed the herb.
well there are exceptions
but for the most part I see men that want what they want and women left holding the bag
Hard time buying? Look at all the wine bottles in that picture. Stupid should hurt.
