Jessica L. Wright, the acting under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness, said today that the Defense Department must maintain its commitment to diversity and inclusion, which contribute to mission success.
She asserted that diversity helps civilian and military employees perform well because they represent the nation in our workforce.
The Defense Department not only talks about diversity in terms of race and gender, and ethnicity, but it is much more than that in my mind, Wright said. She declared that diversity included your thought process, how you grew up, [and] what you can add to the greater good because of your background.
Wright, the very model of a modern retired major general in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, was speaking Tuesday on best practices for inclusion and diversity at an event hosted by the German Marhsall Fund of the United States.
The webpage for the event, titled Mission Critical: Transatlantic Security and Diversity, declared, it is a security imperative for military leaders to proactively advance diversity and inclusion (D&I) best practices, because of the rapid demographic change [and] advances in gender and LGBT equity and a new generation of veterans in NATO countries.
What mission is that?
Diversity is political, plain and simple.
In practical terms, diversity usually results in lowering of standards for capability, performance and outcome.
It supplants individuality and freedom of choice and trades excellence in innovation for ‘forced group-think.’
And here I though it was Training.
Repeat the lie enough and it becomes the truth; “diversity” has set the genders and races against each other to (successfully) destroy the WASP ideals that built this country. We’ve gone from a world power to a rainbow freak show within a generation.
Diversity and inclusion for the sake of diversity and inclusion always ends in disaster.
“In practical terms, diversity usually results in lowering of standards for capability, performance and outcome.”
At this point the military reminds me of the Roman legions towards the end of Rome or the SS units defending Berlin in 1945; both were filled with foreigners with little cultural attachment to the larger organization.
Why not enlist a bunch of drug addicts, criminals and traitors? That’ll really make it inclusive!
WASP was one strong historical strain of Christendom in the USA, but is not the only one either there or in the world. If you want to see diversity of ethnicity, follow the worldwide story of the church in all its arms.
Christ brings courage. The same love that put Him on that sacrificial cross causes those that love Him to sacrifice themselves back to God for the sake of overrunning evil and bringing blessings.
The loving appreciation of what Christ has done has been superseded by a worldly pride in many quarters. Pride goes before destruction, however. My own spiritual journey has been one of the reverse. Beginning as a very proud (and broken) person, I have been learning to love Christ more and more.
God is letting the things of the proud world get shaken up so that (among many other things, I don’t claim to know all details of His plan, only His general biblical pattern) we will withdraw from treating them as idols. Idolatry can be subtle. We can find ourselves looking at the US armed services and say man what courage, what derring-do, I’m proud. And that’s wrong. We should be looking at Christ and saying that, and then expressing it in all our lives.
Heh heh, actually that used to be a common way of dealing with petty criminals. Go serve and we’ll wipe your record.
With a more sanely conducted fighting force (Christian ideals) that wasn’t a bad thing. Take their capacities which were focused on mischief, and focus them on something meaningful.
The left fears a military where the actual combat troops are predominantly composed of (and led by) straight, white, Christian males.
This is why the officer ranks are being purged in all branches. To demoralize the troops and destroy our fighting ability.
Yes. They’re groping out there for love. And they believe today that love means embracing all the human contents of this mortal coil in equality.
And in a sense they’d even be right. If the leadership remains devoted to sane ideals. America has historically served as the military deliverer.
Problem is when this embrace becomes one big democratic free for all. I can even see a point in letting some of this stuff manifest, as how else are we going to know who needs the gospel, but it can’t be allowed to chill the gospel or at least a sense of being under God. That will be deadly. The resolve of the forces will grow shallower and shallower as that happens.
An apt comparison.
There is nothing more critically important when a soldier’s life is on the balance or nuclear weapons are deployed than diversity.
Unfortunately, war doesn't work like that.
“What happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy, but I believe it would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty here.” The Army Chief of Staff, Gen. George Casey
Requiring competence and even logic are racist methods used to exclude people. There must be no background checks and incompetence must be seen as a virtue.
Good for you, Diversity Chick. Then maybe the Pentegon will stop harassing White, Christian men in your “inclusive military”, who have been the mainstay of our freedom throughout our history.... until the last “wars” we have fought and by the way, haven’t won because the rules of engagement won’t allow victories any more. A chickified military is a sad shadow of its former self.
I wonder how many more such people he has strategically placed throughout DOD, Homeland Security, etc. ??
What happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy, but “
The first part of that sentence should NEVER be followed by the word ‘but’. And it was a TERRORIST ATTACK. Not just a tragedy.
