The National Security Agency, responsible for U.S. electronic eavesdropping, said on Wednesday that it does not target the Vatican and called an Italian media report that it had done so "not true."

Panorama magazine said on Wednesday that the NSA had eavesdropped on Vatican phone calls, possibly including when former Pope Benedict's successor was under discussion.

"The National Security Agency does not target the Vatican. Assertions that NSA has targeted the Vatican, published in Italy's Panorama magazine, are not true," NSA spokeswoman Vanee Vines said in a statement.

According to Panorama, which did not cite a source for its information, the NSA had monitored 46 million phone calls in Italy from December 10, 2012, to January 8, 2013, including conversations in and out of the Vatican.

There is not one bit of communication in this world that is not picked up, recorded and stored by NSA and the other ICs.

The problem here...is the believably scale of the current administration. Nothing is believed in absolute terms. The always typical answer....no one told the President. Thus he is the least informed President in the past fifty years (since Jimmy Carter, at least).

I would suggest if you go back to the Hawaii years....he had the same answers then. Same for Occidental’s college years. Same for Columbia. Same for the trip to Pakistan. On and on.

Deniability becomes boat anchor after a while. I don’t see this guy traveling to Mexico, South America, Europe, Russia or Canada for the remaining three years. He’d do OK travelling to Tonga, Burma, and maybe Aruba.

I could see some Fox News hour now being developed with a Puppet who just keeps uttering the twenty top Obamaisms every time some chaotic world event occurs. You could do an entire hour....the puppet always answers the same way. Everyone would laugh or giggle over the act, and it’d all be believable.

Some advice for democrats in 2014....all of this makes for great political advertising and we’ve all forgotten the silly Republicans for that seventeen day shutdown. There’s just no good spin left to use on this mess.

Cue the release of irrefutable evidence that NSA spied on the Vatican.

The obama administration has zero credibility left. None. In fact, given obama’s track record of a tenuous relationship with the truth (at best)...the fact that they are denying it makes it all the more likely it not only was going on, but still is going on.

The Vatican said they KNEW the NSA was spying on them and that they’re okay with it. Now the NSA is saying they weren’t spying?

Someone’s lying, and as a Catholic, my loyalties lie with the Lord.
