Shane Victorino's three-run double broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning and John Lackey allowed one run over 6 and 2/3 innings as the Boston Red Sox wrapped up their eighth World Series title in franchise history and third in 10 seasons with a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The win completed a remarkable turnaround for the Red Sox, who finished last in the American League East with a record of 69-93 in 2012, but won 97 games under first-year manager John Farrell and defeated the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers to reach their first World Series since 2007.

And I’ll make sure to wear my Yankees’ cap if I ever visit Vermont. Aren’t you folks to first state in the union to legalize gay marriage? At least I don’t have to worry about revenge attacks from a group of sissies.
and the shaved heads ....Ever seen the Taliban without their turbans on?
In Vermont, there are two types of people -- the sissies from New York (Yankees fans, incidentally) who came and legalized gay marriage and ruined an otherwise wonderful state, and the (outnumbered by outsiders) old Vermont Yankees. Vermont Yankees, more so than any other subspecies of Yankees, are ornery people that you really don't want to mess with.
Just a word to the wise.

Her’s a quick summary of societal life in Vermont. A place where Boston Red Sox can enjoy themselves.
Having been a huge Cardinals fan all my life, I can say I have no problem with the Sox winning this. They have always been one of my favorites, and more importantly, the Yankees didn’t win it.
Native Vermonters are usually very conservative. But there are literally more liberal New Yorkers living in Vermont than there are native Vermonters. Same thing happened in New Hampshire.
Wearing a Yankees team hat in Vermont is a hat-tip to all the wrong people.

So happy to see Red Sox win at Fenway Park. The last time they won at home was in 1918. My mother was six years old and her Uncle worked at Gillette and was pals with Babe Ruth. She was at that game when they won the pennant. We got transplanted out in Texas, but I know all my relatives were rooting for their team tonight!
I’ve never seen a tighter series. Boston and St Louis played like machines. Pitching was incredibly solid. Both teams jumped on the rare missteps. It was fun to watch.
Well, I am not from VT, you would get your ass kicked talk in’ that way to the Vermonters I know, and you can leave that Yankees hat on the floor of your bathroom—where it belongs.
The Cards sucked all series. You can’t win if you leave everyone on base.
Pretty sure the Cards didn’t face the Tigers.
New York Liberal hippies started infiltrating Western MA and VT in the 60’s to escape their own hard fought for Liberal policies and taxes. They are like Bedbugs except Rachel Carlson took away DDT with her flapping crap
they effed up California, Colorado, Florida
Liberals are Locusts
I’ll never forget a comment my wife’s grand dad made during a nice lazy summer afternoon baseball discussion in their backyard. I had noted, in the course of things, that it always seemed funny to me that they would pull a pitcher who gave up a couple of hits on dribblers through the infield, but would leave a guy in when they were pounding it to the wall off of him.
“Well,” he said, “I always said baseball was a s***luck game.”
Fixed it.
Tom Werner.
Is that Manny Ortiz??
