Meet Sue Klinkhamer.
She worked in the office of Representative Bill Foster, a Democrat from Illinois. Her boss voted for Obamacare and she was a proud defender of Obamacare, too.
I spent two years defending Obamacare. I had constituents scream at me, spit at me and call me names that I cant put in print. The congressman was not re-elected in 2010 mainly because of the anti-Obamacare anger. When the congressman was not re-elected, I also (along with the rest of our staff) lost my job. I was upset that because of the health care issue, I didnt have a job anymore but still defended Obamacare because it would make health care available to everyone at, what I assumed, would be an affordable price.”
First, a quick point on civility. Whether it’s Customer Service for Verizon or a staffer working for an elective official, we must treat everyone with Christian dignity and respect. So, I’m sorry that Sue had people spit at her or call her names.
But Sue isn’t defending Obamacare anymore. She noted that President Obama had promised many times: “If you like your health plan, you will keep it.”
She now knows the truth. She admitted: “I have now learned that I was wrong. Very wrong.
When voters fired her boss in the 2010 elections, she had to get another job and that meant she had to shop for health care, too. Three years ago, she got a plan that cost $225 a month with a $2,500 deductible. But then her health care company sent a letter a few weeks ago.
Blue Cross, she said, stated my current coverage would expire on Dec. 31, and here are my options: I can have a plan with similar benefits for $647.12 [or] I can have a plan with similar [but higher] pricing for $322.32 but with a $6,500 deductible.
She went on, Blue Cross also tells me that if I dont pick one of the options, they will just assume I want the one for $647. … Someone please tell me why my premium in January will be $356 more than in December? …
And I was excited that previously uninsured people could now get insurance on the open market. But this is not affordable to me.
You can argue facts and figures all day long. You can mention that 500,000 Californians will lose their current healthcare insurance plans. And you can often get into a shouting match about this fact and that fact.
Sometimes it’s better to simply tell a story that brings the policy fight to life.
And while I doubt I’ll agree with her 100%, Sue Klinkhamer has a story to tell.
Obamacare is driving up the cost of health care for millions of Americans, including people like Sue Klinkhamer who were working full-time to get this horrible legislation passed.
Ping!
Now, do us a favor and don’t vote for the next 30 years.
I wonder if this rube is related to Bart Stupak.
There will be millions like Miss Klinkhamer who will find themselves with a big gap in coverage between the time their old policy ends and the time their Obamacare kicks in.
There must be a great deal of Buyer’s Remorse for the many folks that voted for him.
screw her. If she did not have the common sense to know that forcing Americans to purchase something was unconstitutional then she must be brain dead. Wonder what will be next next mandated purchase? Pandora’s box has been opened.
Well, I guess it’s nice she figured it out, but it’s too late now. We are never going back.
I just have no sympathy.
Anyone with 1/3 a brain can look at the results of socialized healthcare system from anywhere in the world and know that they do not work
I’m glad she woke up but she deserved to be spit upon.
Well said.
We could gloat about the deluded finally learning the truth, but they were deceived on purpose.
No Schadenfruede from me. People are being HURT.
Better late than never, to realize the truth. Now she realizes that she was LIED to and that she was HURT and others too.
Thanks for posting this story the way you did.
(It's a special gift that her name is "Klinkhamer")
I feel 0 sympathy for this broad.
Obamacare was fine for her as long as she was above the fray.
But now that she is in the mix with all the rest she starts whining.
This woman exemplifies why universal suffrage was a horrible mistake.
My heart bleeds.
Stupid b*tch
Stuck on stoooooopid!
I spent two years defending Obamacare. I had constituents scream at me, spit at me......”
Yeah, sure. Just like those Tea Party people were spitting at John Lewis while they were calling him the n-word. If the constituent were Chris Matthews I would believe her.
And I was excited that previously uninsured people could now get insurance on the open market. But this is not affordable to me.
Sue, why do you hate uninsured people?
I have no doubt that her and people like her would gladly agree to have all conservatives enslaved in forced labor camps if they could just get back their old health coverage. Not a doubt in my mind. Eat it up bitch.
I’m sure she wishes she was still a congressional staffer so that she would still have her place in the wagon rather than being in front, pulling it.
I hope she would support repeal and starting over on health care.
Suddenly, when it hits her pocketbook, Sue learns about logic and how it is more critical than emotion. This is what happens when an ant-gun person is mugged or robbed. The see things in a new light. It’s wonderful that Great Leader is robbing his own people. It’s even more funner, and betterer that Great Leader and our hollowed leaders in DC are exempt from the mugging.
