Can’t speak for other states, but in Pennsylvania, there are a number of assistance programs for the poor in addition to EBT, and I expect that many EBT recipients collect from more than one or all of these programs. Some might not qualify, but they collect anyway. These programs are administered without any concern for fraud.

Not sure about now, but some years ago, people would flock to Pennsylvania because they knew they could extract more assistance money here than they could in other states.

In many cases, the fact that one ‘qualifies’ for one program is automatic qualification for other benefits.

The fraud and needlessness of these programs are patently egregious.

In PA there are sooooo many people on varying programs because they are straight up lazy and playing the victim card. The big thing around my parts is getting on disability for addiction (alcoholism in the cases I know). It’s disgusting as these people CAN work, they choose not to and think the money just magically comes from the state.
