California resident: ‘I was all for Obamacare’ until I got the bill
The Washington Times ^ | October 28, 2013 | Cheryl K. Chumley

California residents are rebelling a bit against Obamacare, with thousands shocked by the sticker price and rethinking their support, saying that what seemed wonderful in principle is not translating so well into reality.

As Pam Kehaly, the president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, reported, she received a letter from one woman who saw her insurance rates rise by 50 percent due to Obamacare.

“She said, ‘I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,’ ” Ms. Kehaly said, in the Los Angeles Times.

Several hundred thousand other Californians in coming weeks may be feeling the same pinch, as insurers drop their plans and push them onto exchanges, medical analysts say. Blue Shield of California sent letters to 119,000 residents last month announcing the plans don’t meet federal mandates.

Kaiser Permanente, meanwhile, is canceling about 160,000 of its customers’ plans — about half of its base, the Los Angeles Times said. A majority of those who are being booted off their plans will face a rate increase from Obamacare.

“This is when the actualy sticker shock comes into play for people,” said Gerald Kominski, director of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, in the Los Angeles Times. “There are winners and losers under the Affordable Care Act.”

Jennifer Harris, Fullerton resident, said she was shocked to receive a letter from her Health Net Inc. insurer that her plan — which costs $98 a month — was being dropped. The cheapest plan she said in the Los Angeles Times that she found is $238 a month....

If I was one of those who consistently voted for bad
people, party, and policies I wouldn’t have bothered
with FR the past 10 yrs. I would be out finding new
things to protest.

The thing that drives us conservative Californians crazy
(and, yes, there are still more conservatives concentrated
In California than almost anywhere) is fellow conservatives
who play the low hanging fruit game because the only
info about California they get is from the same libtard
media we all hate.

AFAIK no doctor is required to accept insurance from the 0bamaCare exchanges. For those who do you have hit on the problem. With over 1.8 million words in the regulations so far (there is apparently no limit to how much can be added by the HHS Sec) how would any doctor know what is required or what is prohibited?

In all my years here at FR, I can’t recall seeing a thread with so many “comments removed by Admin”. I feel like I missed something important. I wish I was here to see them in real time before getting pulled. LOL

I was thinking the same thing. Actually years ago there was a thread that had several pages removed that posted at the exact same time.

That actually happened.
I think it was Chuck Heston that related the story.

His guncontrol neighbors came and asked him to lend them a gun for protection during some unrest,
and he told them to go buy one.
“Can’t, there’s a waiting period”

And you were in favor of that - goodbye.

I think these people assumed(and we all knows what happens when you assume) that Obama(don't)care would have nothing to do with them. It just would give low cost heath insurance to people who didn't have any. Sort of like food stamps for health insurance.

Why would they need it? They had health insurance already.

There might be a small jump in taxes to pay for it but nothing else.

Yeah, they were very naive.

“Another of the myriad aspects of this ridiculousness”

I encountered another aspect of the ridiculousness of Obamacare this morning when I went for my DENTAL exam and cleaning. When I walked in, they ushered me to a room to take my height and weight. When she saw the “WTF?!?” look on my face, she (apologetically) said, “We’re required to do this now because of the Affordable Care Act.”

One more way for them to collect personal data and find an excuse to send your name to the death panels for consideration.

A majority of Californians may or may not believe
that Texans are stupid and racist. But, unfortunenately,
elections in recent years demonstrate that a majority
of California voters are liberal. So why should intelligent
conservatives like you and I give two dead flies what
libtard morons from anywhere think about Texans or
ALL conservatives, for that matter?

The point here is when you don’t distinguish between
libtard “Kalifornians” and the rest of us HUMAN
Californians then you make us think that you
don’t know there is a difference.

And, here is another point......Gov Perry is not doing
Texas such a great service. Sorry for yelling but......
POPULATION GROWTH BRINGS LIBERALISM. We
found out the hard way............

All good. Spent to much time on liberal sites squabbling with the Kalfornians and forget about the good patriotic Californians.

Not a big fan of Perry, I did vote for him when he ran for lack of a better Republican candidate. The only thing I really like about him is his trying to pull business into Texas. It really gets under the libs skin and pisses off the media. Anytime that happens, I'm pretty happy.

This is perfect. People are going to find out what “spreading the wealth around” really means for them. They all believe that if the wealth is spread evenly, they’ll get a raise. When more than likely their pay will drop. Funny!

And of course, as with all liberals, they want “others” to be helped but only with someone else’s money. I have a step daughter like that. She’s always wanting to give something to the less fortunate. But she wants it to come out of my wallet.
