California residents are rebelling a bit against Obamacare, with thousands shocked by the sticker price and rethinking their support, saying that what seemed wonderful in principle is not translating so well into reality.
As Pam Kehaly, the president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, reported, she received a letter from one woman who saw her insurance rates rise by 50 percent due to Obamacare.
She said, I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it, Ms. Kehaly said, in the Los Angeles Times.
Several hundred thousand other Californians in coming weeks may be feeling the same pinch, as insurers drop their plans and push them onto exchanges, medical analysts say. Blue Shield of California sent letters to 119,000 residents last month announcing the plans dont meet federal mandates.
Kaiser Permanente, meanwhile, is canceling about 160,000 of its customers plans about half of its base, the Los Angeles Times said. A majority of those who are being booted off their plans will face a rate increase from Obamacare.
This is when the actualy sticker shock comes into play for people, said Gerald Kominski, director of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, in the Los Angeles Times. There are winners and losers under the Affordable Care Act.
Jennifer Harris, Fullerton resident, said she was shocked to receive a letter from her Health Net Inc. insurer that her plan which costs $98 a month was being dropped. The cheapest plan she said in the Los Angeles Times that she found is $238 a month....

Am I supposed to feel sorry for this woman?
After all the condescending lectures and holier than thou I’ve had to endure for liberals and “moderates” in this Obamacare fight - this woman can KISS MY ASS.
There was a photo put out on Yahoo the day of Reagan’s funeral.
The funeral procession/caravan was travelling through Southern California.
There was a young guy out working driving in his pickup and he had gotten out, up onto the bed and held his hand to his heart as the hearse passed.
Wish I’d saved it.
constitution is missing form that interesting illustration
“Its hell being a low information voter.
My Dad always said “An education is expensive, no matter how you get it.”
“Life’s hard and it’s harder if you’re stupid”
John Wayne
DUDE.. Ya mean I like gotta PAY for something? When Nancy Pelosi said ‘pass it to find out what’s in it,’ I like thought we were gettin’ it free! Now I gotta like get a job and miss out on all those tasty waves at high tide!
In all my years here at FR, I can’t recall seeing a thread with so many “comments removed by Admin”. I feel like I missed something important. I wish I was here to see them in real time before getting pulled. LOL
As the kids say: "Own it, Bitches..."
“Another libtard mugged by reality.”
A lot of liberal whites thought Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Mitt Romney, and Rush Limbaugh were going to pay for 100% of their health insurance AND health care costs. Now they are slowly discovering the truth. These stories have to spread far & wide before the mid-terms (to the point where no media blackout can conceal it).
What? I thought it was coming from the Money Tree?
A voter with no understanding of history, freedom or economics. And they get to tell us how to live our lives.
“After going through 10 years of rigorous schooling and training and spending or borrowing tens of thousands of dollars to do it I wouldn’t stand for it either. Who would?”
That is a big problem for all fields that require years of schooling beyond a bachelor’s degree. We see Asians increasingly in the medical field at the same time as tech, and they are undercutting the Americans that went through a lot of trouble to rise in both fields. Why would I get an MBA if Red China is waiting to export a million of them (educated right here in the US)?
The woman here will have $140 less per month to spend on groceries, entertainment, & other purchases. I've seen some reports of people who will pay hundreds more for insurance each month. That money has to come from somewhere, monthly family spending will have to be adjusted, purchases & saving will have to be curtailed.
I have an idea Obamacare will hurt retail sales badly, destroying more jobs, driving us even deeper into the recession that never ended.
With people anticipating a big increase in insurance premiums next year, poor sales this Christmas might foretell the coming decline.

Bingo!
President Bush the first did an economic stimulus where he cut tax witholding by 1% and it had a substantial positive effect. Obamacare increases are going to take 10% of some peoples disposable income and that's going to kill the economy
Yep, these higher insurance premiums on millions of working people will have the same effect as a payroll tax increase.
And, something they are not yet talking about is that insurance premiums are increasing rapidly for people with employer provided insurance. That also acts as a payroll tax increase.
I agree that it’s their own stupid fault, but I’d love to have an election in about 3 months while they’re all seeing the reality and not listening to the propaganda.
In any case, I’d love to have them voting against it in the next year or so.
The only quick way to repeal it is to retain the House and win 67 conservative seats in the Senate, a veto proof 2/3rds majority of non-rinos.
If you are part of the conservative underground, fighting a hopeless battle against institutionalized liberalism, no, of course not.
Free means someone else pays. This is good, but I doubt that the true believers will ever get their heads out of their anal cavities.
you ain’t even getting the vaseline either!
Ultimately, the USA is a consumer culture. Now you can pick all the colors of your iphone, case, buttons, customize it. The consumers of America (99%??)are rebelling against Obamacare, either because of high cost, no choice in policy and a pissed off reaction to being told they have to buy something they don’t want. This is the message conservatives need to hammer away at.
