A data center critical for allowing uninsured Americans to buy health coverage under President Barack Obama's healthcare law went down on Sunday, the U.S. government said, in the latest problem for the "Obamacare'' rollout.
Verizon's Terremark operates the data center behind a federal system for determining eligibility for government subsidies to buy insurance nationwide and hosts HealthCare.gov, the website that makes insurance available in 36 of the 50 states.
The data center experienced a failure on Sunday that led it to lose network connectivity, Health and Human Services Department spokeswoman Joanne Peters said.
The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services told Connecticut officials about the outage and gave no indication of when the data services hub would be functioning again, said a spokeswoman for Access Health CT, the Connecticut exchange.

Like Jay Leno said, only the Federal Government could create a website slower than the post office.
My wife works for Verizon Terremark...she reminded me that Terremark only supplies the PLATFORM on which the Obamacare website sits..but that is ALL that Terremark does.. she’s in the Dallas office, so, has no idea what is occuring in the Virginia office. Terremark is a computer website HOSTING company, from what I understand. Apparently, they simply maintain the computers. Beyond that, I have no idea what they do, other than what she has told me, which isn’t a lot.
Pathetic that they can’t even run a database but Americans have entrusted them with their healthcare
Oh wait having insurance doesn’t actually mean you will get to see a doctor does it
When govt does build it, it fails. Roads fail, bridges fail and public schools fail.
This is further proof that Obamacare will self-destruct as it is unveiled to the American public. No need for government shutdowns or refusing to raise the debt ceiling, which only distract the public from the cascade of failures that is Obamacare.
Like most government systems, it’s probably monolithic in design.
In Culpeper, they maintain security, environment, power (fed from different directions on the grid), and have a buttload of Internet connectivity from almost all of the major Internet carriers from around the world. Other than that, it’s basically BYOD, which is where the problems with Obamacare seem to be.
Sign being printed to be placed right next to the toilet and “Flush Obama” sign - ObamaCare is a Cesspool. Will try to post a photo after the sign is up
“Idiocracy” was a documentary.
Exactly. I've heard that the back-end had NEVER BEEN TESTED when the FUBOcare website was rolled out. Oh, and the back-end also provides the communication with the insurance companies so they know who has enrolled. FUBAR.
Drink plenty of water? You mean, like from the toilet?
I can tell by your handle that you’re in the same boat as I am...
“Idiocracy was a really funny and prescient movie, but I can’t recommend it to any of the people in my current circle.”
Thanks, I only recommend it to people who want to know how that demographic thinks and can take the “bad” parts with a grain of salt.
LOL. Glad I finished my coffee when I saw that cartoon.
They WANT it to be so messed up that the only solution will be a single payer system. (The only “easy” solution left after everyone loses their insurance.)
Mooch or Wookie! I don’t know which name I like best! Either way, they’re ridiculing phatass mabelle michelle which I always enjoy!
Geez, what's the problem? Obama's future health care is just fine.
Let's paraphrase Marie Antoinette:
"If the normal health care insurance that the peasants have doesn't work, why don't they do what I would do - use their Congressional health care benefits?"
