A veteran Washington D.C. investigative journalist says the Department of Homeland Security confiscated a stack of her confidential files during a raid of her home in August leading her to fear that a number of her sources inside the federal government have now been exposed.
In an interview with The Daily Caller, journalist Audrey Hudson revealed that the Department of Homeland Security and Maryland State Police were involved in a predawn raid of her Shady Side, Md. home on Aug. 6. Hudson is a former Washington Times reporter and current freelance reporter.
A search warrant obtained by TheDC indicates that the August raid allowed law enforcement to search for firearms inside her home.

Not that this woman is a Castro lover, but it has always intrigued me how those in Obama’s Press Corpse worship at the feet of dictators like Castro and Chavez knowing full well (or do they?) there isn’t the least semblance of a free press in those countries.
That can work both ways. Those who give the orders may start disappearing, or having "accidents".
I had not thought of it in those terms; even a lib moron can understand that comparison. I'll be using it in my next letter to the editor.
So where are all the Freeper that supported the Patriot Act back in the day? I remember being called all kind of names when I, in no uncertain terms, denoted the Patriot Act as blatantly unconstitutional. Repeal the Patriot Act! End the War on Drugs. Both if these bodies of law are a far greater threat to your freedom than the evil they allegedly curtail.
Make lemonade. Keep a couple of file cabinets around with "evidence" incriminating whatever leftists are appropriate for the situation. Keep the lefties too busy defending themselves from their beloved regime to do you any dirt.
I can. But I promised Jim that I would try to curb my use of such language while on his forum.
Do we know that they were laying around? They could have been in a file cabinet or anywhere. It sounds like these people totally ignored the law regarding warrants. And the fact that they asked her if she was the reporter who had written exposes strongly suggests that they deliberately went in search for her notes even though they had no warrant for that. Searching for firearms would allow them to look ANYWHERE, and they obviously didn’t care that there was no reason for them to suspect that her notes were evidence of any crime. It sure seems like they went in search of her notes with the intent to illegally take them under some trumped-up claim that they thought they were evidence of a different crime.
There’s no way to protect yourself against people who take those liberties, except perhaps by using encryption somehow. Putting them in a locked safe wouldn’t even do the job because they could break the lock on the safe claiming they were looking for firearms. She’s a freelancer now so it’s likely that her home is her office.
I’ve thought of this situation as well, with the records that I have. After events that suggested I may have been targeted at my home I took my records with me, both on my laptop and on external storage devices. Turns out they didn’t need to target my INFORMATION in such a way because most of it was typed up on my computer and they can just look on it without having to do a search. Paper records are about the only records they CAN’T get at through NSA so they are the way to go, but they have to be kept somewhere and wherever they are kept can be searched under trumped-up charges. And computers can be confiscated under trumped-up charges as well.
This is a serious mess. There is no way to keep anything confidential when you’re living under the KGB, as we are right now.
I almost got banned because of my disgust over the USA PATRIOT Act.
Just because “our guy” is pushing it, does NOT make it a good thing. We warned that DHS and the TSA in the hands of someone else WOULD be abused.
We were right.
Still haven’t gotten an apology for that...
This is why, if you have critical data, you should both heavily encrypt it, then archive it with somebody who would not be raided. If you need some, borrow your own data on a volatile format, use it, then destroy the copy.
Unrelated elderly people who at one point lived under a tyrannical regime are the best. They know the stakes in the game, and are often impossibly hard to break. They also know that if they surrender anything, ever, they are dead, because you can’t buy grace from a tyrant.
If things are really hairy, turn the system on itself by implicating the tyrants themselves. Say the DHS raids your home and seizes your had drive and thumb drives. Nothing on your hard drive, but the thumb drives reveal that the big government leakers are Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Valerie Jarrett, Rahm Emanuel and Karl Rove.
They left for work and ended up finding out what happened to Jimmy Hoffa.
No different than what Putin does in Russia.
Chilling: Reporter’s confidential notes seized in firearms raid by Feds
And they were in her place looking for “guns”.
BINGO - I'm in total agreement with you! In fact, I'm against the entire GCA of '68.
Or die like Breitbart.
Or go out in a blaze of glory like Hastings...
They knew that the instant they started supporting obama.
Unlike you, they think living under a communist regime will be totally wonderful.
Lol, me neither. I have had to lay low several times to keep my Freeper account. But I was pretty much always right because I was pretty much always on the side of the US Constitution. people need to remember that "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Just because it's "your guy" doesn't make it right.
Same here. In fact, I'm against the NFA of '34 as well.
"Shall not be infringed."
It's pretty explicit. There is no "misunderstanding" allowable here. Any arguments against the 2A are all of them predicated upon drawing limitations where none is allowed under our Constitution.
"Don't be unreasonable. There has to be limits..." we are told. Well, no. There doesn't need to be. If they don't like it, Amend the Constitution. Doing anything less is dishonest and engenders distrust in the whole system.
The roots of the disease killing our Republic are varied and widespread. "Laws" like the NFA and the GCA are part of this.
At least they didn’t find her body at Ft Marcy...of course as they state, “The investigation is not complete”.
