Two little girls, step sisters, were playing in a pile of leaves in their yard when, from seemingly out of nowhere, a vehicle came careening through, hitting and killing them both. The vehicle then fled as quickly as it had come.
The two little girls were 6-year-old Anna Dieter-Eckerdt and 11-year-old Abigail Robinson. The driver of the vehicle who ran them down and stopped their lives tragically short was 18 year old Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, an immigrant in the U.S. illegally.
Garcia-Cisneros’ boyfriend, Mario Echeverria, also 18, was in the vehicle at the time of the murder, and he suggested the pair drive off to the local car wash to rid the vehicle of any evidence, which they did.
Garcia-Cisneros was charged with two counts of hit-and-run with injury, and she’s currently being held at the Washington County Jail in Oregon. Her boyfriend has been charged with one count of hindering prosecution.
A memorial service for Anna and Abigail will be held on Saturday at Sonrise Church in Hillsboro, Oregon, the community in which the murder occurred. The service begins at 10 a.m. and all members of the community are welcome.
In a lot of places in suburbia/small towns they're the same thing because there are no sidewalks.

If you leave the scene and there were injuries as a result of the accident you face a harsher penalty. Hit and run involving injuries is a Class C felony. Class C felonies are punishable by up to 5 years in prison and fines reaching $125,000.

If this kind of thing occurs in a “sanctuary state” the I think the state should AUTOMATICALLY be held fully liable for wrongful death.
The settlement should be DOZENS of millions.

A monetary settlement is the first thing that comes to your mind seeing the picture of that little girl?
On the local news they showed a quick video that had piles of leaves in the street along the curb. Not sure if it was canned video, or the actual street where the girls were playing.
If they were playing in a pile of leaves in the street it was a terrible accident all the way around. I could see myself as a kid both playing in the leaves, or as a stupid teenager driving through a pile of leaves in the street.
They said they felt/heard a thump but didn’t think anything of it. Not sure if myself as a once young punk driver would have thought about it either. Even now I probably wouldn’t think I had hit two kids in a pile of leaves, but would at least check to see what damage might be to my vehicle, and what might have caused it.
Once they heard the news they figured out what they had done, and went to wash off the evidence as she (the driver) is illegal.
Do not come to my world, my country, and my home, illegally, then kill my children and wish for or expect a civilized response.

Their father was outside with them snapping photographs, Herb said. At the time of the crash, he either looked away or ran into the house momentarily.

I know nothing about that part of Oregon, but me and my brother would pile the leaves in front of our suburban Boston house, raked into a big pile, on the street by the curb.
We'd jump in the pile and just have a great time making a mess, raking it back up and etc.
One day we were playing and my brother buried me in the leaves.
Just then, my father pulled in from work.
He stopped the car about 2 or 3 feet from the pile because we had built it and he was respectin' our fun ... but he had no idea I was inches from being crushed.
I jumped up with a gleeful shout ... and he went into a rage .. grabbing us, sending us into the house.
We got a lecture and we were put in fear for our lives .... my father could do that ... but never touched us ... just yelled and told us how stupid and dangerous that was.
We were about 6 or 7 years old at the time.
THAT'S what I thought of when I read this srory.
The source of this “news article” is a blog. The author of the article (and the blog) is a novelist. Is this article corroborated by any other news reports?
Nope. I think first of the NEXT pair or little girls. And the next. Then I think of The next 100 to follow.
And that is because this is but a snapshot of a MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM.
You need to THINK and not just feel.
