Sen. Mark Begich says he supports extending open enrollment for individuals to buy health insurance under the federal health care law.
The Alaska Democrat, in a statement, says he wants to work with the Obama administration to ensure individuals aren't unfairly penalized if technical issues continue with the online insurance marketplaces.
Spokeswoman Heather Handyside says Begich wants to see how things with the site play out over the next several weeks and consider what makes sense.
Glitches have plagued the site since open enrollment began Oct. 1. The law requires most Americans have insurance starting next year or face fines. Open enrollment runs through March.
Begich has defended the health care law but also said he has ideas for making it better, including getting rid of a medical device tax.
Go Bold or go home. Say goodbye to Sen Begich!
Losing the Middle East.. in only 5 years, no less.
Wow.. now that is quite an accomplishment.
Imagine what Hillary can do in her first 5 years?
Law is irrelevant yaknow.
Constitutional professor Obama said it and I believe it.
And he says that he and his family and staff are all on obummercare.
Begich, the constant liar, runs commercials here in Anchorage, all day, every day. If his lips are moving, he is lying!
He will lie about ANYTHING!
Constantly bashing the pubs and calling them names..."All because a small band of knuckleheads are holding the country hostage over the health care law.
Agreed!
Mayor Sullivan is still finding out about the sneaky stuff Begich did as mayor. HE WAS IN BED WITH THE UNIONS, and all that that entailed. He will say anything you want to hear. And he hedges everything he says. He is a snake!
