Ted Cruz Spots a Tsunami

Ted Cruz is our Tilly Smith.

Tilly Smith was a hero. Vacationing on a beach in 2004 in Thailand, the ten-year-old Tilly immediately recognized the signs of the approaching tsunami and quickly warned fellow beachgoers, in time to save over a hundred lives.

On that fateful afternoon when she first noticed the "sizzling" water rapidly filling the shoreline, Tilly recalled a recent geography lesson on tsunamis from school and began to shout an alarm. Fortunately, enough people -- beginning with her own family -- paid attention to Tilly and spread the word, saving everyone there.

We can imagine that many of the sunscreen-lathered beachgoers were at first annoyed by Tillie's bold interruption, and might even have called her a "wacko bird." Some may have been initially so irritated by her family's warning, ruining their little slice of paradise in the sand -- that they saw not a heroine, but an impudent little girl; or worse, called her names like "short-sighted fraud," "terrorist," "extremist," or "snake-oil salesman." Even though others could have observed the very same signs, they may not have recalled their own geography studies, and likely hesitated to heed Tilly's alarm -- wanting first to take a quick opinion poll from the rest of the in-crowd.

One doesn't need to recall simple math or economics lessons from school to hear and recognize the ugly sucking sound emanating from our nation's 17-plus trillion dollar debt clock. But most cover their ears with soothing opinion polls (likely answered by people who flunked both subjects) and would rather know President Obama's answer to tough questions, such as what he thinks is the coolest thing about his job.

Ted Cruz Response to GOP:

There are Republican gray beards that make the point, “Let’s let this collapse”... I profoundly disagree with the message... I consider that... the Bad Samaritan theory. Basically inflict a bunch of harm on the American people and hope we benefit politically from it.
What a terrible, cynical approach. I’m not interested in seeing the American people suffer just because my party might benefit politically if they blame the Democrats for the foolish policies that have been imposed.

And who can be sure the damned thing will collapse? I mean within the next two election cycles?

Anyone paying the slightest attention would know this was his position

I cannot bear to hear conservative pundits say he was unwise not to let it go and make people see

As if that would have ever happened anyway

They don’t know what to do with him, they are so not used to having smart, educated, unselfish statesmen not driven by greed.

They should wise up and get on board.

My thought is that the reason the Tea Party and Ted have such low polling numbers is that are they preaching dire warnings that the main stream wants to believe. They even may fear that it may be true but don't want to face the facts.

What sane person can possibly deny that $17 trillion plus national debt and growing is a good thing.

There is a large part of the population that will not be able to fend for themselves when the crash comes and the producers will not be so generous or reticent when that inevitability comes to pass.

Were it not for Ted, This latest fiscal fiasco would have been ushered quietly in the back rooms of congress, with the complicit RINOs. The sheeple would have been fat dumb and happy, on their way to the sluaghter.

Yes and when the collapse comes it will be the Republicans fault for getting everyone into a panic with their doomsday prophecy. Unless, of course, enough people believe the sky is falling, vote to throw the bums out, impeach the pretender and change direction.

And by the way, how in the world can such specious outfits such as Moody’s and Standard and Poors threaten to downgrade the U.S. bond status unless the out- of-control debt ceiling is RAISED??? That’s like raising the credit card score because someone went over their credit limit.

The only explanation is that Holder’s Dept. of Injustice threatens banks and businesses with outrageous fines if they don’t sign on to Big Government’s demands, so the rating agencies are being extorted to play ball with Obama.

Senator Cruz reminded us that it actually won’t collapse; that any entitlement program ever started has been with us forever.

Medicare collapsed in the early 1980s. The entire medical care system was changed, due to this; it is bankrupt.

Yet it’s treated and handled like it’s as stable and healthy as a successful corporation.

“Let’s let this collapse”...

*********
This seems inevitiable under the weight of our growing mountain of debt. $17 trillion in itself is a collossal number, but it does not even include the unfunded liabilities: an astounding $125 trillion. We are in very serious financial trouble.

Nobody wants to deal with these numbers until something breaks. At that time they will have “cover” to start fixing the problem because the party can’t go on and there are no other choices.

When the shock/collapse occurs, this will be a catlyst for a healthy change in policies. Unfortunately, the only things that really cause people to change are pain and fear. And we are in store for plenty of that.

Being the great liberals have screwed everything up from the real estate decline to destroying our dollar and now this pile of cr*p health care pipe dream, do we get to keep our homes when it all crashes?
