IRS improperly paid out $132 billion in tax credits

According to the report, improper payments in the past decade, from 2003 through 2012, totaled up to $132.6 billion dollars, peaking during the 2010 economic crisis at $18.4 billion dollars.

The report says the IRS was unable to show it has taken proper steps to fix the problem after the inspector general flagged it in 2008.

Here's how the tax credit works: low income working families get a credit that reduces their tax bill. The size of the credit depends on their income and number of children. If the credit is larger than what they owe, or they pay no taxes, they get a cash payment. The program was expanded as part of the Obama administration's stimulus.

This year, a married couple with three children can earn up to $51,567 dollars and qualify for a maximum $6,044 dollar tax credit.

The inspector general found up to one-fourth of the tax dollars is given to people who don't qualify. The report said the problem is a mix of fraud and honest families having trouble calculating the credit.

The IRS said it can't audit all 27 million families who claim the credit. The tax agency added that it prevents $4 billion in improper claims each year and is committed to expanding that.

Talk to anyone who works at a tax prep service and they will shake their head at the abuse of EITC and how the single moms and minorities beat a path to door so they can get that “working welfare” check

And many will lie their butts off to “qualify” or game the system, knowing exactly where the high point in the refund curve is.

The program was expanded as part of the Obama administration's stimulus.

When the IRS isn't playing politics against conservatives for Obama, it's buying votes for him. This was no accident.

The credit should be abolished, most welfare programs too until the federal deficit is brought under control. If the poor don’t like it let them immigrate to Me-he-co or elsewhere.

Name the org.

Even if you don't care, I do.
I've had family members and friends be automatically denied military disability or social security benefits-supposedly because of the cheat rate.

I often hear people complain about “rich people” cheating on their taxes.
I submit to you that it is not the few rich tax cheats, but the many millions of “poor” (sarcasm) liars and cheaters, that have degraded my hard earned income buying powers and steadily increased the costs I pay for everything.

Who do these people fear?
Certainly not the government.
Nor their neighbors.
By your silence, you support and encourage their “crimes”.
They only fear the criminals who helped them learn how, and now take a cut of the money they willingly lied, cheated and stole to acquire.

If you think they are committing victimless crimes, you are sadly mistaken.

BTW.
I am a TEA Party member.

We have no official leaders.
It is an individual choice to allign with like minded people who believe that our government has been subverted by dishonest politicians, government workers and citizens who constantly lie, cheat and steal from the vast majority of honest citizens who don't.

i found that what she did was despicable and out right theft not to mention its criminal. i did not have access to find out the company but i know she drove 20 miles to file instead of the 5 minute drive to h&r block.
these people charged her 450.00 to file a 1000.00 w2.

i no longer speak to her.

Riiiight.

So I gather you are a landlord of small to mid level profit scales, accepting a greater than 30% number of government subsidized Section 8 payments for non-standard, un-qualified renters.

Am I correct?
