This can't be.

The Pope rejects "ideological Christianity."

On Thursday, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met with the pope and invited him to the Middle East.

This has my attention. Overall I like the guy, but Israel is for me a litmus test. The pope did apparently meet with Shimon Peres.

The Pope’s philo-semitic credentials are pretty bulletproof, so this can only be a case of his refusing to be manipulated by Bibi in the latter’s bid to gin up a war with Iran. I don’t Francis for refusing to sign on for a new middle eastern war, but IMHO he should have taken the meeting and told Bibi to his face. Couldn’t have hurt.

Don’t know how it was announced that the meeting was a done deal. Somebody screwed up.

IF this is true, I find it outrageous that Pope Francis can’t find a spare half hour or thereabout to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu!

I am outraged. And to think my husband ( who is Jewish) and I pray after saying our grace before our meals, “And God bless momma and poppa, the United States of America, the intentions of the pope, and {my husband’s business), Amen.”

I may have to suspend this special reference to him.

It seems to me that a pope who can have off-the-cuff interviews with atheists who write him letters, who can pop in to parish churches without notice, who can pay his own hotel bill, could find 10 minutes to meet with the leader of a democratic nation desirous to meet with him.

"Bibi"?

Now might be time to recall that the last pope called for clemency for Asia Bibi or Asia Noreen, a Christian Pakistani woman held in prison under sentence of death. She is still in prison.

A statement last week from Netanyahu’s office had said he would be “meeting Pope Francis next Wednesday at the Vatican” and with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for updates on nuclear talks with Iran and negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. A diplomatic source on Sunday told AFP, however, that no such meeting with Pope Francis will be taking place.

Ping for later

I've been waiting in vain for the usual immediate-jumpers-on who always blame everything on "the translation" or on "unreliable" news sources.

This is it for me. Disrespect Bibi and you disrespect me by extension.

And don't believe for one moment that the Israeli government posted the announcement of the meeting before the Pope agreed to see him. Stuff like this doesn't happen in the big leagues.

I posted my suspicions right off the bat about this "social justice" new pope and I've been proven right time after time.

Believe, me, like many others here, this post is written totally in sorrow, not anger.

What does it mean when the Pope ridicules Ideological Christianity but say’s nary a word about Islam?

Give me a break. All religions are ideological as well as all political philosophies. Even the absence of an ideology is an ideology.

I think they should have given the Pope an IQ test prior to election, or maybe that’s why he was elected?

So, either the Source of the story is lying, or somebody at the Vatican hung Israel out to dry because there is no way on this green earth that Israel announced an unarranged meeting with the Pope.

“JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Prime Minister will not meet with Pope Francis during a visit to Rome this week, as his office had previously announced.

The Prime Minister’s office issued a statement last week saying that Netanyahu would meet with the pope at the Vatican on Wednesday and during the same trip meet with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome to discuss the peace talks with the Palestinians, Iran, Syria, and other issues of mutual concern.

But the Vatican reportedly never was asked to schedule a meeting, and due to complex and conservative Vatican protocol cannot schedule a visit with one week’s notice, which is insulting, Haaretz reported.

On Sunday, the Vatican officially informed the Israeli ambassador to the Vatican, Zion Evrony, that a meeting could not be scheduled this week between Netanyahu and the pope.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met earlier this month with the pope in Rome.

The pope has expressed an interest in visiting Israel”

Not exactly “reject” but hey, on FR anything anti catholic goes.

The article must be read!

The Pope has a calendar and has commitments which are scheduled months to years in advance. Bibi is just like anyone else who must get on that calendar if he wishes to meet with him.

Every single reporter and electronic typesetter with an axe to grind can make anything look bad.

If the pope was an authentic Christian, the leader of Israel would be at the top of his list...

Gen_12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen_12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

This Pope is a catastrophe for the Catholic Church, for Christianity, and for Western Civilization. He is manifestly unfit to stand in the shoes of the Fisherman. He IS Petrus Romanus.
