British police say they were called after a string of attacks on red-haired pupils at a school in northern England.
The issue of bullying of red-haired children periodically arises in Britain, and some commentators have attributed the phenomenon to lingering anti-Celtic prejudice.

My hair is not that light red like in the pictures here-it is dark red-more like oak leaves than strawberries, and I don’t have pale skin or freckles-Basque ancestors, not Celtic...

When I was in high school, we had a player on our team, that we nicknamed “Keegan” because he looked just like Kevin Keegan (at that time he’d already left for Hamburg, though)
But I became an Everton fan because of Tim Howard, and when Landon Donovan went there. I didn’t want to take the easy way out and just pick a “Big Four” team.
Recently I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos about the 70s era....I am fascinated by Brian Clough (of course I watched “The Damned United”), He was just a great interview, although it’s sad in his latter years the demon alcohol got to him. What a shame he never became England manager.
This is very weird - apparently, red hair is a fairly recent mutation and maybe this is humanity trying to suppress it.

I saw Tim Howard play back in 1996 for a local semi-pro team called the NJ Imperials. He was just out of HS. I use to see him at minor league baseball games when he played for the Metrostars in the MLS.
